Probably Utah since Danny has his eyes on a massive haul if they don't keep him.

yeah, and his salary goes up next year. i was just thinking that it's possible markkanen's salary goes way up, too, and at that point, which one is the better foundational piece? i get that KAT has been junk in the playoffs, but is utah really going to get a better player than him? markkanen is good, but he's a complimentary piece, imo. great fit in minnesota next to gobert/ant/mcdaniels, but poorly cast as a franchise-carrier.

what's the point of acquiring EVEN MORE draft capital for utah? it would be to trade for a perennial all star on the right side of thirty, right?

I'm hoping that was a Klutch leak doing the ground work of angling him here instead of a SA leak.

Definitely worth revisiting. They can build around JHS and he can lead them into the Flagg sweepstakes next summer.

    rui/jhs/wood/2024 17th pick/2029 top-3 protected/two top-5 protected swaps for murray.

does atlanta bite? if we could get dlo to opt in, we could toss him in and have them add hunter if they want to get off his salary?

    probably wishful thinking.

I think DLO only opts in if he gets an extension and gets to go where he wants to go. Otherwise, he doesn't have much motivation to help us. Deep down I think he wants to stay, but it appears we will go another direction unless they really think JJ can really coach this squad up to new heights.

it will be another huge blunder to lose Dlo for nothing. It's not like we can replace him properly anyway. We should be looking at extending him and trading him.

seems Hawks will go into rebuild so Dejounte will probably be available. Also there's Portland we can trade with. Brogdon and Grant are nice pieces that would help us.

    Agree.

If Russell leaves for nothing, that isn't good.

It all comes down to what LeBron wants, again.
If he wants that third “star,” our depth will be shipped out, and DLo most likely won’t help us out. It better be the right piece because again, I don’t see the three “star” model working with our cap situation.

Report: Victor Wembanyama ‘Intrigued’ By Idea Of Playing With Trae Young
By Ashish Mathur- May 13, 2024
According to NBA insider Tim MacMahon of ESPN, San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is “intrigued” by the idea of playing with Trae Young.

One NBA writer proposed that the Spurs acquire Young from the Hawks this summer. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Spurs and Hawks:

The trade: The San Antonio Spurs trade Keldon Johnson, Malaki Branham, Devonte’ Graham and two first-round picks (including No. 1) to the Atlanta Hawks for Trae Young

@JSM .... do you have any inkling or is there any explanation or speculation with the Atlanta press as to why Trae suddenly dropped Klutch?

yeah, i'm curious. that was one of their higher profile clients. wonder if it has something to do with dejounte going there (also klutch) and the awkwardness that has ensued.

Klutch's client list isn't really all that impressive, outside of Lebron and AD. This perceived clout stuff gets a bit overblown sometimes.

I'm pretty sure that Young's agency, is more interested, in getting him to a big market, and getting him paid, on and off the court. All that can happen in LA, so I don't think the Klutch or not thing, has anything to do, with where he lands. If the Lakers really want him, it's not going to matter, which agency represents him.

SMH, did Porzingis pass along this calf strain to Mitchell? C Bags getting a cake walk to the finals.

CLE had a snowball's chance with Mitchell; that snowball is pure steam right now. Sucks to be them.

But hey, I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to C-Bag hating: maybe now BOS will mentally check out like they did when Bron and AD sat in BOS? (My doubts on this are roughly equal to that snowball's current status, tbh. Still...)

As with all Laker fans olde enuff to remember that - I already considered myself an "old guy" when Fish hit that shot - we all remember where we were. One of those games. The following playoff game a bunch of Laker fans from a Usenet group met in a downtown LA bar to watch it, still buzzing from Fish's shot.

Only 20 years ago to me. "Only." Because of the general cultural insanity that has accelerated since then. Can't help but feel even 2004 was relatively "innocent" - it was pre-everyone-on-Facebook world, for one. Ah, but I digress.
