Feels like their role players are mailing it in like ours did which is a shame. Gobert doing his usual playoff no show but Katt joining him is the killer.

feels like I'm in Twilight Zone reading some posts that value no experience over having experience, especially after most people complained Ham didn't have enough experience.

you guys would quickly sink any company you got your hands on with that kind of decision-making.

    Gobert is a joke.
Sucks on offense and over rated in defense.

Let’s try and clarify this again for you. 1. A Stong staff populated (hopefully) with every bit of your structural experience covering day to day and in game coaching in the NBA that might make naysayers comfortable has all the bases covered. 2. For the Xs and Os and creative scheming for how the squad we have assembled each season plays the game …. it is a collaboration between JJ and LeBron with AD in the mix. The have say and skin in the game as to how best everyone is being utilized. Versus in this LAST chance go round and contract for LeBron he is again overruled on who is HIS best recommendation …. and expected to again submit to lesser experience and knowledge of the game than he ALONE has and would have far more input with Reddick, apparently extremely bright in his own right and would welcome the collaboration. Because the new coach last thing he wants to do is be seen as weak and a pushover for what his two superstars think they know better than him strategy wise …. whether true or not. The collaboration with Reddick and James …. simply by the reality of James’s vast experience and acknowledged mind for the game Plus JJ, making the strategic decisions “very likely” >>>>> whichever other retread HC or assistant currently having had no HC experience either ….as an individual. It is different. It is novel. It is outside the box. It could be awesome. More chance of awesome with the two of them than this other single individual. No matter how much experience. Spoelstra’s not available.

Rob will probably hire Stotts and install Reddick as his lead assistant. That way we'll have two coaches, to design an offensive scheme around Lebron, AD and Trigger Trae..

Probably cause a mini meltdown around here in the process. Might work, might not.

That would be interesting too and could be an acceptable compromise for the superstars IF they had actually been pushing for JJ. Leaving Trae out of course … not happening.

he's not tainted by the establishment, and will bring fresh eyes and perspective to our process

    did I do that right?

    :Kobe Snickering:

Hiring JJ Redick without an awesome experienced supporting cast is just setting a guy up for failure. With his work ethic and basketball IQ, I have no doubt he can grow into the job from the X and O's perspective, but is he a leader of men? I think he can create great team routines to get the teams ready. I have no doubts he can absorb scouting reports for breakfast, but once he has the players' respect for being a good coach, can he keep it?

Lots of unknowns. Lebron once had the best coach from Europe, and had an amazing winning record, but still got him fired. Dude is merciless on coaches.

Couple more thoughts on JJ as a candidate...

    1) With Bron, CP3 who I'm putting money on to be a Laker as soon as the bet line opens (if JJ is hired) and explained why I couple pages ago, and a real staff around him I don't think experience will be a problem. Ham had fake experience. He's been an assistant for 14 years and that gave him a false sense he knew better and knew what he was doing. He didn't. He didn't listen to his players and they didn't listen to him.

    2) he lists a lot of coaches and assistant coaches as people who he learned from at each of the teams he's been on (that goes for all candidates but he's had some good assistants and a few good HCs, I'll pull a list later). I think he gained the most from his 5 years with Stan. Stan was ahead of the game with his 4-out principles utilizing D12 + spacing. He understands how to get movement shooters space and run screen actions for them from Stan AND then what has been ran for him at various stops, especially with CP when he was with the Clipps. We might be losing our best shooter to free agency but we'll see what happens.

both Van Gundy's were actually very solid coaches

I'm sure he's not on the list, but that guy single handedly make Dwight look much better than he was. Dwight left Orlando to be a star and thought Stan was holding him back, and that he was a 30 point a night scorer waiting to be unleashed.

No sir, Stan hid his limitations and accentuated the positive and put him in a position to succeed. We saw his limitations first hand, and when coached by Stan, I didn't know he was so limited. Phil knew, and used Bynum and Pau to school him, but to the rest of the league he was a terror.

I'd love to see a great coach be able to do that for all of our players. I felt like Ham did that for exactly zero of our players. Just completely clueless how to scheme to the roster and who was available. Just excuses and "try harder and want it more BS".

I bet Ham still thinks he's an amazing head coach. It will take additional failure stops to inform him he needs to grow as a coach me thinks.

I just don't know much about him, but he was unceremoniously dumped by NJ? I guess that really doesn't mean much these days though, but you had 3 star nutjobs on that roster in KD, Irving, and Har'en. Almost as bad as the Phoenix situation.

That was Atkinson and then Steve Nash (also an inexperienced guy who was hired based on him being a great, smart player).

I felt like the Hornets pulled the plug on him a little too early. Twitter guys don't seem to like him though.

so just risk potentially hiring another darvin ham? got it

just because an experienced coach hasn't won a title, it doesn't make them a bad coach. look at some of the more highly regarded, experienced coaches in the game today. carlisle=1 ring in 20+ years of coaching. lue=1 ring that was 100% lebron's doing. budenholzer=1 ring and multiple playoff failures. nurse=1 ring and hasn't made it out of the second round since. not to mention that coaches evolve for the better sometimes. mike brown, for example, is not the same mike brown who coached the lakers 12 years ago

ham's inexperience was praised when he was first hired and look at how that turned out

JJ + LeBron + (mandatory) great staff >>>>> any of the other candidates for potential greatness including experience (can't just not count Bron) .... for same and even bigger impact reason that we want Rondo.

Adelman has become the clear top choice for me. I think a lot of the stuff he has Denver doing would be a good fit for LeBron, AD and the current roster. I'm not interested in Atkinson for the same reasons, the stuff he was doing in Brooklyn is not a good fit for us. No interest in Borrego either. Redick is a complete mystery box, no one has any idea how he'd turn out. Seems much more likely he'd be bad given the track record for hires with no prior coaching experience.

Listening to everyone talk about certain coaches kind of reminds me of a past experience. We once had a neighbor who wanted to move out of her rented condo because she has lost her roommate and felt she no longer wanted a 2 BR condo. We had just bought a house and were getting ready to rent our 1 BR condo out and she inquired. Well, we called the landlord and asked him if she was a good renter, paid her bills on time, etc. He gave her an AWESOME and glowing report, even saying how sad he was to see her go but that his loss was our gain. We rented to her, she rarely paid the rent, caused us a ton of other problems and we found out later, that she did this same stuff to the last landlord. He was an A-hole because he saw his opportunity and took it, to our detriment. Well, when folks are extolling the virtues of guys who will only be leaving because of it, it just makes me question their motives.

Yeah. Adelman strikes me as a good fit as well for the same reasons.

Give him a good staff and go from there.

Head coaches scare me who have only succeeded with a generational player. Apply that times an assistant x20.

He's intriguing, both those generally really scare me off.
