Well, at least the firing of Ham and the Flippers, who so many of the brain dead pundits labeled a “contender” after the BeerdoMcFloppington trade, getting booted in round one have made me happy.
That's an unacceptable loss. I think they should fire Lue over it. Brings joy to my heart they didn't make it out of round one. People actually tried to convince us that team could be anything other than a fraud and a choke artist. You collect a bunch of losers and guess what's going to happen. Enjoy the Toilet Bowl. Curious to see the construction of that team next year. I think Sweat Stain will try to keep the headliners because his new arena will need it. BUT they haven't offered PG a max and Philly is willing.
clips would be incredibly stupid to give PG the max, but that's what i expect they'll do they're not going to move into the new arena in rebuild mode. problem is that they have nearly zero draft capital or tradeable assets, so they really have no choice but to run it back with this same core
Why would Lue want to come here anyway? We already tried to short change him, the first time around, and he has an owner with deep pockets, that's willing to spend big.
Clipper are always gonna Clip. Talk a lot of trash, have a lot of new fans that hopped on when they got good with griffin and CP3, but they will never be us. If we failed the last 5 years like they have with all that talent we’d never hear the end of it
they'd barely have cap room even if harden and PG just walked, so they have to pay them. PG is going to get max because other teams will offer it to him (even though i don't think he deserves it at this point). i think he'll stay there. the question then becomes harden. do they max him? someone will offer harden more than the 36 he got last year, imo (and he's probably still worth more than that). if the clippers raise his salary, they blow through the second apron in ways that make their previous team-building advantages hard to replicate (they can't just keep adding high-dollar guys for composites of their fringe players). if harden walks, they're still near the apron and limited in their assets to replace him, so again, i think they just pony up the cash. but with the lue extension and re-upping PG and harden, you're basically running it back with a team that fell short at a much higher price. i get that the price doesn't matter to ballmer, but the new tax rules limit their ability to trade out of this. btw, people notice that in a must-win game, lue played russ 9 minutes. then we hear russ was unhappy about his role. i feel like lue was making a point to management that he can't deal with that clown anymore. and i really wonder who will.
SGA/gallinari and 7 first rounders. we traded ingram/ball/hart and 5 1sts for AD and were told it was an overpay. oh wait, i forgot that trade was for PG AND kawhi. whatever helps you get over it, i guess.
clips have no choice but to run it back with the same group. tanking isn't an option since OKC owns all their picks
