I don't think they will trade Bridges and particularly not to us.

I don't know if the price for Trae (or Lauri) will be that high but we will see. I'm sure the teams will try to float out huge deals, but I can't see any team cleaning the cupboard for either player. Especially not Trae.

Again, most important thing is to nail the coaching hire.

We do that and add a big and some more defense to the existing team and we're still competitive especially if we get lucky again with health.

If the opportunity to nab someone that helps us pops up (and I think it will), you make the move.

We know what we need to get past the only team that really 100% has our number.

lots of teams will call about markkanen, and the jazz don't really need to shop him. if he goes, it will be for a high price, imo. and tbh, i'm guessing what utah would want is another version of him (young player with room to grow whose rights they control for a bit). i guess reaves is kind of that, but they probably want someone with star potential.

not sure about young. my opinion is that he's one of those non-max maxes that kill you, and thus he shouldn't be worth too much. i'm certain atlanta doesn't see it that way, though. he's been their franchise player for some successful seasons for them. they may end up just trading murray for more and starting over again, though it sounds like young doesn't think that's a fun idea.

ironically, murray (who i think utah chases last year, right?) for markkanen makes some sense.

anyway, i think the murray/markkanen/bridges level is where we should be looking (second-tier stars making second-tier money), so hopefully one shakes loose somewhere.

i just think that's pretty optimistic, hence my suggestions of guys like randle and grant. less exciting and thus, more likely to be available.

@abeer3 I took your Trae-BI idea and stretched it to a 3-teamer. Desperate to think of ideas where Trae doesn't end up here.

    Trae to NO
    BI to LAC
    PG to ATL

-If Hawks move off Trae, they don't have a big named player for billboards and ticket stubs. PG is a bigger name than Ingram.
-Sweat Stain shaves $12m and gets younger. I know money means nothing to him but paying their tax for Kawhi to load manage until he retires has to make those sweat beads start to form under his pits.
-NO gets a P&R pairing for Zion.

yeah, in a similar vein, this is how i'm afraid we get squeezed out of secondary market.

Trae would probably be a great fit in NO.

He's the leader of Heat culture on that roster and when he's able to play in the playoffs he still can take it to really impressive levels buuuut that's A LOT of money for Butler on what's likely his final contract.

Well, PG is going to have some power in where he goes since he's a FA; as a result, doubt PG would go to Atlanta.

It's probably either Sixers or staying with the tenants. Would be hilarious if he signed with OKC though!

Well, as you mentioned, ATL has a high opinion of Young and if they said no to what we offered them for Murray, essentially offering the same thing for Young would go nowhere.

I don't think getting Young is going to be upgrade. I'd rather keep Reaves then have to pay Young 50 million a year. I'd rather not have to watch a foul baiting merchant.

But feels like we may get squeezed, but I like the idea of Randle/Grant. Too bad OG and Siakam are gone now.

I know I’m in the minority here, but in a vacuum I don’t mind Trae Young. The issue has always been the price to get him. I was under the impression we would have to give up AR and/or Vando in order to match salary.

But I was looking at the numbers and I think you can get there while keeping both AR and Vando. Something like Rui, Gabe, JHS, Lewis and then you’d have to convince one of the player options (Wood, Reddish, Hayes) to opt in and be part of the trade for salary filler. OR if you wait until after the draft to execute it and include this year’s FRP (we’d have to wait 30 days until they sign their rookie contract so we can count that towards salary matching rather then just trading them the rights to the player).

Maybe you then split whatever MLE we have access to between Dinwiddie and a big man. Re-sign Prince with non bird-rights. Re-sign Christie. Hope you can strike on a few productive minimum signings. Most importantly tie that together with a better coach.

    Young / Dinwiddie
    Reaves / Christie
Prince / Wing FA (Vet’s Min)
    James / Vanderbilt
Davis / Big Man FA (Split MLE)

Might be some elements here that are a stretch to realistically pull off. But if it was possible to adequately fill those holes at back-up wing and center, I wouldn’t be too mad at that. Solid mix of offense and defense. Certainly a far cry from how barren and how much lack of depth our roster was the last time we tried a “three star” route. I think the success of this roster would be predicated on Christie taking a leap and Vando staying healthy

Not my preferred route this summer, but also not the “sky is falling Westbrook trade” type of disaster scenario a lot of Laker fans have painted a Trae Young trade as IMO

Butler seems to be aging fast: hasn't looked the same this year.

Trae Young as a salary dump you are definitely interested. Trae young who have to give up real assets: hard pass.

Lol it's former now. PG's millions allowing her to be a stay at home mom.

I think a team that may fit Trae Young is the Spurs. Spurs can dangle back their picks they got from Murray so they can tank.

someone please explain to me how would we be winning anything with a Trae - AR back court. Trae is a defensive black hole worse than DLo. At least Dlo tries.
