Great game from LeBron today - set the tone with his passing and picked the pels apart like he has all year

For him to average 26-8-7-1-1 on 54/41/75 splits in year 21 while playing 71 (!!!) games this year is nothing short of remarkable and I actually think he deserves to be 1st team all NBA for those numbers.

BTW his 71 games are the most he's played as a Laker.

Smart as usual ….. only took 2 3s as not needed and instead many bully ball drives to the rim. To go with the Magic type assists heavy game.

Yes, nobody expected to see this. He still doesn't have much of a post game or post footwork, but due to his sheer size and athleticism, continues to be effective. The outside shot is a bonus, and despite losing a step, it still helps him get around younger/faster players because they have to respect his shot.

His post game and footwork aren't that bad IMO. And he does have the Kobe backing down someone while surveying the floor also in case someone to pass to with a better shot, going on as well frequently.

He has a mid post fade away, and an overpower you lay up, and that’s about it.

and hey, it works for him, but it doesn’t mean it’s not limited.

His teammates let him down in the first Q missing a few easy ones. In the first 8 minutes, he should've had 10 assists (think he only had 1 TO in the 1st Q, too). Just a master class by Point Bron. Then as soon as NO accepts that, he starts picking his spots as a scorer in the 2nd Q.

Hands were all over that game. Even saw playoff Bron defense out there, Zion's muscles and mass did nothing for him against Bron, Rui and AD.

We're not going to see someone do that again.

Goat is a very subjective conversation. Some things are undisputable. He's the all time leader in points and turnovers as an example.

That alone doesn't equal GOAT. Bill Russell with 11 championships in 13 years has a say. A guy with a record of 6-0 in the Finals may have more to say than a guy with a record of 5-5

he may have the GOAT flopping compilation video of any star on youtube, so there's that.

He's a great player and a genetic freak, but let's not get too carried away.

It absolutely is. He always fades and it's sideways and it's always the same side and the same shoulder. He has suspect dribbles against pressure and so on..

It's just at his still formidable combo of size, IQ (most of the time) and athleticism, these are workable.

    But also:

    Stop it. I can't even... :)

It's 6 - 4 at best. That is Bron got to the finals 10 times and won 5. Jordan got to the Finals 6 times, won 6 and additional 4 failed to even reach the Finals.

Losing in the ECF is not better than losing in the Finals.

The fact that Jordan won 6 out of 6 Finals is impressive, but I am not sure it is THAT more impressive than winning 5 overall.

Let's say Bron wins 2 more. and is 7 - 5 in the Finals. It is better, correct? So 6 - 0 isn't all THAT.

nothing beats 11-13 tbh. I don't know how Russell doesn't get more credit. It's our fascination with offense I believe.

I think there are actually GOATS of different eras, and even then, cutoffs are pretty impossible to make. As one star fades, another rises, so there is always crossover.

It's a never ending, never winnable debate. But if you ask me what I value the most in a player, and who I want taking the last shot to save my life once for all time and all the marbles? it's not Lebron. Therefore he simply cannot be my GOAT. Your definition like many others is probably massively different. I understand and respect that, but I won't tell you to suck anything if you don't agree with me.

If you are looking for sucking, you are on the wrong website.

Kobe is mine. Because dedication matters to me. Winning is dependant on so so many factors outside of one's control (Pippen being injured in ECF would tank MJ's legacy so badly, he'd be just another great SG, like Clyde or something).

But investing your all into TRYING to achive the ultimate goal is all one can ask from a single player and there is NOONE above Kobe in that regard and it's not really disputable at that point.

There is an often ambiguously attributed motto (I am translating this from Russian, where it is attributed to Knights Templar):

I just love how it's memory holed that Jordan's team without him won 59 games and literally had one of the worst foul calls in NBA history go against them to make the ECF when he was out. Magic/Bird aging out and league expansion helped that man's legacy just so much.

Not saying he's not the GOAT but it's a lot closer then people want to believe

No one is trying to hear his revisionist history. Narcissism can be pretty pathetic sometimes.
