Vogel/D'Antoni ex Lakers coach retread hybrid.

• Vogel would return as head coach and be in charge of the defense
• D'Antoni would be the assistant coach and be the offensive coordinator.

 

Why would Vogel in his right mind return to the club that did him so dirty?
Also, Antoni isn’t getting another shot here. He was just awful for the roster we had at the time and had no interest in adjusting his “system”(a.k.a. the Steve Nash system) to fit the age and style of players.
Thirdly, Phil is way too old to coach now- even during his last run here, he was complaining about how difficult the travel was on his aging frame.

 

Yeah, hopefully some good candidates emerge. Or maybe we win the championship and it becomes less of a priority.

lol, their payroll is at 196 million for six guys right now (kd/beal/booker/nurkic/allen/little). three of them aren't even that great.

 

Who do we want to replace Ham with as coach? Might be Lue once Clips get bounced from 1st round against Dallas if he doesn't need a sabbatical.

 

i think the clips are going to beat dallas again. i'm also not sure they'll fire lue in any case. one of the principal reasons: they know we'd hire him immediately.

i'm not as big a lue fan as the rest of the world, but i do know that at least lebron wouldn't be actively sabotaging him, which is a big bonus.

Lue is better than Ham, but that isn't saying much.

 

i just think dallas can't handle kawhi, and he seems to have a special place in his heart for destroying them. clips can't handle luka, either, which is why the series have been close. i expect another close loss for dallas.

and lue is better than ham, yes. i'm not sure the margin is huge, but again, if you've got lebron's respect, you're halfway there.

 

Kawhi has been out for like 8 straight games due to some knee injury.

Ham's future is tied to how he finishes the season, IMO. W shall see. I know we need a change, but we're cheap.

P S.Last season they also played Memphis as 7 seed,as supposed in old playoffs format.So it should be Oklahoma- Lakers,not Denver.
And Sacramento and GSW should be already fishing today.
I actually agree with LeBron and Mark Cuban that play- in is terrible idea . Maybe it was fine for a pandemic years,but not now

 

I think Ham is out either way at the end of the season, barring a championship.* I don't think LeBron agrees to come back and play another season for the Lakers with Ham as his coach. And we can't allow LeBron to bail on us, given the reputational damage that would cause.

* I've seen enough championship teams over the years to know what one looks like, and the 2024 Lakers ain't it.
