Saving this for posterity. The young man was ahead of his time. Those who are not investing in blockchain technology are missing out in a life changing opportunity. You have less than a year to truly figure it out for maximum gains. Not joking.

    Jokic is listed at 284lb

Robin Lopez is listed at 281lb
Jaxson Hayse is listed at 220lb

I’m about 6’, not fat, and I weigh more than Hayse. I love Jaxson’s energy and hustle, but he doesn’t have enough in his back pocket to bang with Jokic. No Laker does including AD. Not discounting AD’s skill, but weight to keep Jokic out of the paint is something we need.

I’m wondering if Robin wasn’t playing because in Brook they literally have the same guy as Robin, but better, so they either go with a change up in archetype by playing Jae Crowder or just play the better twin. That might be the case, might not, but it’s an unusual situation with twins on the same team so it’s worth pondering.

I agree that Hayes doesn’t have the bulk to handle Jokic at all. However if we are looking at bigs just to bang with Jokic off the bench, I honestly would prefer Dwight Howard over Robin Lopez. Dwight can do everything we would want Lopez to do but he’s still the better defensive center at this stage of his career.

I think Dwight is either a free agent or playing in Taiwan, so we can get him if it comes down to it for a playoff run.

I would have cut Hayes for Biyombo, but with Biyombo off the board I don’t see any other bigs available that are a sure thing to be an upgrade over Hayes. Lopez has barely played the last 3 years.

Seems like Morris and Gallinari are the biggest remaining names out there so far. If we had an empty roster spot I wouldn’t mind one of them to give us some more offensive firepower at the end of the bench… but cutting Cam for them would be an atrocious decision. Unless you’re confident Vanderbilt will be back to full health around the time of his next re-evaluation, we simply need Cam’s defense way too much.

I think we stand pat and wait to see if a better player eventually shakes free on the buyout market. But even then, we most likely stick with our current 15. For any other buyout players, we no longer have the advantage of offering more money. And it’s not ideal to waive a player who has a player option for next year.

Dwight is a Taoyuan Leopard now and has some knee problems. He is pretty much done at this point and Jokic would absolutely eat him alive. Any physical contact between him and Dwight would end up like this:

If Vanderbilt is out for the playoffs, don't we get some kind of buyout exception? I can't remember the details now, but we signed Kief and Waiters during the bubble. I don't remember if it was something special because of Covid, with Bradley opting out or not. I think we cut the little dude at guard, don't remember his name, he was from GS or something.

There is a hardship exception when a team has several players injured, they can temporarily go over the 15 roster spot maximum

In the case of a season ending injury, there is the disabled player exception that gives you a portion of that injured player’s salary to sign a replacement for the rest of the season. But I think there is a deadline to apply for that exception that has already passed, and also it does not grant you any flexibility to exceed 15 roster spots.

I can’t recall if there were any special Covid year exceptions involved in us signing Morris, JR Smith, or Waiters. Pretty sure they were just regular signings and we had waived Troy Daniels to free a spot? We didn’t cut Quinn Cook that year, he finished the bubble as a Laker champion (recall the hilarious viral moment where he missed the team bus to the championship celebration and had to walk back)

Either that's why more teams weren't aggressively after him on Thursday OR because they're tanking and he's not part of the rebuild, they're telling him to go get right and if you don't come back anytime soon... it's OK.

Injury history is what scared me about moving assets for him. I think we made the right play regarding the pg spot.

yeah, mitch wasn't as bad as people said here, but he was clearly a vestige of a different time. charlotte's been a mess, but i'm not sure that's all on him. i wonder if having to cut the two first round picks from three years ago (one the 11th overall pick) prior to their rookie deals expiring was the last straw. i saw they dumped bouknight and was like...wow... not because bouknight has shown much, but usually you just fall prey to the sunk cost and hold on a bit. mitch stepping down makes that move make more sense--sort of mea culpa house cleaning on the way out.

Mitch gets a bad wrap because it's easy to crap on him. He's unassuming and quiet.

The Mosgov and Deng signing were really bad, can't deny how bad those were. But he did make two franchise shifting trades and would likely still be a Laker GM had the Chris Paul trade gone through.

He drafted Brandon Miller instead of Scoot whom I thought would be the better player. Scoot looks like a grown man and has the optics but seems to have underperformed even as a rookie.

No to Trae. I'd much rather give up Austin for Murray (if Trae is the only other option) than invest in Trae as a cornerstone of this franchise. That also keeps us off the dreaded 3 star model which I loathe unless you're getting SGA, Tatum, Luka, Ant, Joker or Antetokounmpo. We're not getting those guys this summer.

i'm HIGHLY DUBIOUS of this claim. that's wishful thinking. IF you draft bronny AND you can pay lebron 50 million, you MIGHT be able to get him out of la. but i'll be shocked if he takes a dramatic paycut just to play with his kid for a year, particularly if he has to move the family out of la to do it.
