IMO Nunn always scared me as he was a small guard who played poor defense and couldn't get consistent minutes with the best coach in the NBA. I had little confidence that the Lakers would get a lot of him based on his Miami tenure under Spoelstra.
I'm probably being too harsh with Gabe but we're making a lot of presumptions about what DS wanted - losing DS again really was bad.

I didn't want JHS back then and I really don't want him now lol.
Agree Westbrook was Lebron/AD primarily but the FO pulled the trigger.

Still it's a composite metric and drafting Reaves was a coup (imaging him with Whitmore!) and the Westbrook deal out was solid along with their vet min adds.
Real shame because when healthy you got some really woah performances in big games out of both Cam (Phoenix game and the entire IST run) plus Vando (that Boston game was this is Vando with an offensive game), I think you have a team that would have been frankly terrifying for a lot of teams to play.

i don't think so. i presumed that stuff, and then a bunch of reports have come out in the past couple months indicating that starting was a top priority for him. he got more money per year and a starting job. i don't think we just let him walk. we just wouldn't give him the starting job, which was wise, as he's not a starting caliber pg and every team has come to this conclusion for a decade now.

Brutal. Would've never thought to see a stat like that and it not involve Bron and AD

Yeah. The health issues really make me continue to side eye our medical staff. Other teams have injuries and I have no data here but man do we seem to constantly lose guys.

And it feels like it’s always for long stretches without anything actually being broken lol. No, it’s not that simple and my lack of medical knowledge shines through here, but our guys seem to consistently suffer the worst strains in the NBA.

I’ll end the rant here. Lol

Glass half full guy here, in spite of much good ju ju with the signing of hometown Spencer D, wondering how many games in our stretch run “Darvin P Jackson” will cost us farting around experimenting AGAIN with the new non-defending 3 guard lineup. Needs at least five games significant minutes to see if it makes sense …. right?

i'm quite concerned about the three-guard stuff. yes, they're at least all three big guards now, but none of them are defenders. you gonna play zone?

Well, the defense stuff would actually matter if Hambone would make players accountable for their effort and missed assignments.
All a bunch of hot hair from him.

If we approach it with the same seriousness we did the bottom feeding Pistons, we should be OK. I am encouraged by the fact that the Jazz have given up on the year by dumping talent and no one played too much last night.

The WMC is Ham left to his own devices could start a three guard lineup tonight. We'll see who's his real true love on this Valentines day. Prince or the 3 guard lineup concept.

Serious question. I want to say we’ve always done this in terms of the Lakers broadcast even before the whole Spectrum Sportsnet billion dollar deal.

Is there any other franchise that posts highlights of the OPPOSING team other than the Lakers?

They even do this in-game right before the switch to a commercial break too.

I’m watching Spectrum with Geeter, Rob, Worthy…. I stopped around midway through the 2nd quarter of their 4 quarter highlight runs and i counted at least 3 jazz highlights.

Are we just that classy i guess? Who makes that call? To me, it’s annoying, a waste of time, and I don’t see the value in it considering it’s not our team/players.

They’re just not homers or make a point to try not to be and ARE classy. So I guess that’s why …. sprinkle in a few to give the glimpse of the back and forth?

when i used to have league pass i think other teams would play highlights from both sides, too. especially if it was a timeout after a run or something. but i do think there's been an intentional push towards greater homerism in the broadcasts over time. sort of a foxnewsification. i blame tommy heinsohn.

Not sure where to post this, but this thread seems appropriate.

I have almost always been a defense first type of fan but am having problems with this approach in the current game. Seems like so many rules have changed the game and all the NBA wants is a fast moving offensive game with high scores.

Obviously, you need guys who can get stops when they count but building a team that depends on this, that has minimal to moderate offensive firepower just is not gonna cut it.

This is why I have switched my stance in our starting unit of Vando to Rui. Rui has really good offensive capabilities while being pretty good at holding his position on defense. He seems to be able to be in the right place and force people to charge on him. Our offense with our starting 5 of AD, Lebron, Rui, AR and DLO is superb. I think this unit can outscore almost every other team in the league and when the other team gets too hot against us, we can sub in Vando and/or Cam to spear head our defense pressure.

We have the pieces, but Ham keeps trying to build a pattern based on his defensive schemes first and I think that is his mistake.

Guard rotation: AR, DLO and Dinwiddie with Max getting any additional minutes. Cam if we need a hyper point of attack. Cam for when one of our starters are not scoring well.

Forward rotation: Lebron, Rui and Vando with Cam and Prince getting additional minutes. Cam when we need defense and Prince when we need a better 3 point game. Wood can see some minutes when we want two center types in at once.

Center: AD and Woods with Hayes getting any additional minutes.

Offense first, let's outscore everyone, lull them into that kind of game and then use our defensive stoppers to wreak havoc.

I do not understand what Ham is trying to accomplish with his defensive first lineups or his small ball lineups. I think his idea is that he will start smaller, quicker guys who can create movement. ??????

I love our current starting 5 and believe we can build a juggernaut around them, we have the ability to go in a number of directions depending on what we need. I am to the point where I don't understand how Ham creates his substitution patterns and what he hopes to accomplish with them. He seems to be holding this team back.
