Who knows? We might actually be after Sexton ourselves. To couple with another move, that nobody saw coming. IDK

i hope not; i'm not a huge fan, particularly for us. you think dlo is a bad defender?

anyway, murray makes a lot of sense for utah to pursue, though i'm wondering if ainge isn't also just trying to muddy our waters a bit. utah's current position is a strange one, as their pick is top-10 protected, and they're right on that line (within 2 games of keeping it). i feel like he could be trying to thread the needle by getting atlanta to hold off on moving murray until the summer.

Vinay K on twitter feels ATl is willing move to Murray but they are going to wait till the trade deadline to make a move to get the best offer (makes sense to me)
They do not want any salary back so Lakers will need a 3rd team and he suspects that is where the DInwiddie/Lakers talk is since Dinwiddie is an expiring (makes sense to me)

So unless someone goes big I think Murray trade is a definite possibility with a third team getting either D. Lo or Rui.

All this again makes sense to me but it doesn't fit Pelinka's MO of being silent about Laker trades till the trade is executed.

So here's what the others are saying on the pods and how it ties together...
-Fischer and Irwin separately think Hawks have or can have a 3rd team in on this. No problem.
    - Stein and Haynes think Murray will move but now aren't sure it'll be before the summer. There's no rush, offers will still be there draft night and after. [Haynes previously was certain Murray was moving by the deadline]

Irwin's reporting is "Atlanta hasn’t moved off their Reaves-or-bust stance." (And I'll post his full substack post later on).

So it sounds like everyone agrees the 3rd team isn't the problem. Price tag is and that's across the league. Teams are asking too much. It's a buyer vs seller problem. Hopefully it continues to drop this week so something happens, I don't think it's Murray at this point but even the cost on the fridge guys is too high right now.

With the Vando injury, if we're going big game hunting, it needs to be Murray AND DFS in a 3 team'er. Or a deal (technically 2 because of trade limitations) with Toronto for Brown AND DS.

Have to get another versatile defensive wing who can guard multiple positions unless we're flushing the season. The bi-polar ways of this team makes it difficult to evaluate what the right course is.

Just look at the Rockets, Hawks, C Bags, and Knicks games and tell me if you have any idea who or what this team is. That makes Rob's job quite difficult this week.

Anthony Irwin just said on his Lakers Lowdown live show that what he’s heard from the Lakers side of the Murray deal is that they did have the framework in place as reported, and then Atlanta suddenly wanted Reaves. And that’s where it’s been for weeks. He said they contact them and ask if they still require Reaves in the Murray deal, Atlanta says yes, talks don’t go beyond that. He also said if all it took was a third team to take on DLo the Lakers have enough relationships around the league to have probably made that happen and it would be a done deal. He said maybe Atlanta moves off that closer to the deadline, maybe they don’t and we don’t get Murray. Lastly he said asking prices for players are starting to come down like Jones and Finley-Smith who could supposedly only be had for a first, now it’s being floated out it may only take some second rounders. But, the Lakers have to weigh the option of including assets they’ll need for Murray in those other deals, or if they should wait.

Also importantly he said we may not do much at all because analytics people on the Lakers aren’t sure any trade makes us a contender so Rob isn’t sure he wants to use the assets, but that sort of thing risks pissing off LeBron more, and hurting our relationship with Klutch in the future. He said Rob doesn’t specifically not want Klutch guys, but that he doesn’t necessarily want to be outnumbered by them, he wants allies on his side, and that’s one reason Ham is still here, Rob sees him as an ally. Not sure how true all that is, but Irwin is clearly plugged in to the org this year and knows stuff, and a lot of that makes sense to me. Honestly I’m fine if we don’t make big moves, if Atlanta insists on Reaves I think that’s too much.

I’m surprised that none of these writers have mentioned the real probability of DLo walking to another team this summer after his recent explosion. The Lakers can’t expect to remain in the hunt by not replacing his scoring and playmaking with Murray. Besides DLo and Austin, they don’t have another guy who can bring back a good player via trade.

LOL Atlanta wanting Reaves with a 1st rounder still for a player that took them away from a WCF contendership and they don’t want on their team, Murray.

It’s a great article, but at the same time we have to at some point, plan for a post LBJ Lakers and have another top tier player to run alongside AD, so I can see why we are reluctant to blow up the roster and future picks in the short term when we realistically still can’t compete at an elite level consistently.

this was always the danger when you get in bed with an agency. it's all nice when they get you the players, but when they want to run the whole operation...dicey.

and what's not stated in this article is: does lebron want reaves traded for murray? because i think we've put everything else on the table--i don't know this, but i'm almost positive we'd mortgage the future for murray (i would, he's probably better than anyone we could land in FA with similar money or with the draft picks in question). so if lebron and company are frustrated with management, it's about not trading reaves. think about that.

on the last point, i don't think the season is salvageable. but i didn't think that last year, and rob pulled a rabbit out of a hat, so who knows?

i'm sort of expecting gabe/prince and a lightly (top-6?) protected swap that turns into two seconds for tyus jones. that gets us a backup pg that is capable of starting if dlo wets the bed again, gets us under the tax, and takes away ham's security blanket. rui gets regular minutes in vando's absence, and cam and max move up a spot in the rotation for the rest of the season.

i'm just not sure what lebron thinks can happen if atlanta is really asking for reaves (i'm certain in addition to a bunch of other things).

Well no s***! Cause that's what they're worth. If Nets are willing to accept that, they'll move them easily.

yeah, a lot of these "2 1sts" are going to be heavily protected 1sts and/or 2nds.

i think it's odd that teams do this dance every year, but i guess you have to try...

I'm fine with him applying whatever pressure he has in attempts to better the team and getting Murray is the best way to better the team (would've been an entirely different convo with Zach). We thought the team was one thing, it wasn't and what Ham is willing to play is a whole other thing, too. BUT if he and Klutch are going to do that, then Murray and Klutch need to be applying any pressure they can on the Hawks. You use Trae and agency relations. Can't be a one sided push because Bron at 40 just doesn't have that kind of juice.

I don't think Bron would be willing to sacrifice Austin. In his mind, it's probably f*** them picks. Throw enough at them + swaps to get it done. Cause Bron doesn't care about picks 5 years from now or who has them.

Rob seeing Ham as an ally in his turf war with Klutch (or some such)... is the kiss of death. FML
