So a lotto protected first and an expiring for Scary Terry. Wonder if this helps the price on Murray. I know they want to recoup what they gave for him and he's better than Terry but how much better justifies their ask?

He's 37. As a stabilizer backup, I wouldn't hate it for the min IF he didn't come from Miami. Riley is going to take a bat to his knees if he smells we're interested.

I'd rather have GH if he hits the buyout market.

    They're in selling mode

The more I think about it, the more I want to go this route. It seems like the best trade potentially out there for us before the deadline is a DLo for Murray swap, and there are legit questions about fit. I think id do it, but it’s not a no brainer.

Wait until the draft and see if you could get a Mitchell or a Trae Young (less appealing to me) when you have three picks and Vando’s salary to trade. Use the rest of this year to see which of these supporting cast guys are keepers because injuries and Ham’s weirdness have made that difficult. Give a true third star more time to become discontent and say they want to be in LA specifically.

i like being patient. donovan mitchell has a PO on 24-25, so it would be something like the AD situation, in that he has a little leverage to scare off some suitors, but not a ton. still not sure why cleveland would pull the plug before they really had to, though.

that said, being armed with a bunch of picks and decent-sized tradable contracts in the summer instead of dealing from a position of relative weakness right now seems like the safest path. if anything, it should help rob not pull a panic move.

i'd still probably give up a bunch for murray just to have a bird in the hand, though.

would toronto really say no to gabe plus some seconds for schroder? they're three games out of the play-in right now and have lost substantial talent in the past few weeks. they can afford to be patient with gabe and might get a better fit for their system on a slightly cheaper deal. i'm doing my best to sell this.

btw, i'm not sure if i'd have given a 1st and an expiring for rozier. it is lotto-protected, though, so maybe. miami must have really felt they needed it. takes them out of the murray running, so i'm good.

For them I think it's worth it if they can get him playing closer to the defense he was playing in Boston (big if). They're 26th in ppg, he gives that offense a nice push.

Yep. Now need the Knicks to go all in on CAA client Bruce Brown and that takes them out of play, as well.

If Lakers make the Murray trade, they could package him and Austin for Mitchell on draft night if they want.

What I hate about all the trades is that I just don't have a good feeling that Ham has done his part in all this. How can you move guys when we all know that they MAY NOT be the actual problem and that the problem is more likely to be the coach and bringing in new guys is NOT going to change his methods and tendencies. I view this, down the road at seeing another great player that got away after receiving a new guy who is not as good as the old guy and comes in here with the typical now I am a Laker dance routine and sucks things up. All while we get to look at the old guy kicking butt.

griffin must have done something pretty bad to get fired that quickly and with the bucks current record. wasn't he giannis's choice too?

considering how stotts resigned as an assistant before the season even began, he may have been one of those guys who was impossible to work with

Please let this happen. My biggest fear in firing Ham is that he's replaced by Rivers. Let's end that possibility now.

This. And it's something I've been saying for a while now. The team is fine. I would not refuse a trade that obviously makes our team better, but I'm not sure that Dlo, Reaves, Rui, everyone who was mentioned in potential trades, really needs to be traded at all. The team is fine IMO. We have youth, length etc. What we need is a backup PG since Gabe is "dead" and a coach who can utilize our players correctly. We have seen how good Dlo, Austin, Rui, Cam, Vando, Wood can be; you just have to find a way to always have a combination of good offensive players and good defensive players on the floor. The guys are mostly healthy now. Bron and AD are playing excellent basketball for the most part.

Please don't rush into a trade, just to do a trade. We completely messed up the chemistry because of this.
