it's sad that you know they have zero chance of winning if lebron doesn't play unless it's against a lottery team like the pistons or hornets

OK, it's a loss, except if the Jazz have a catastrophic shooting game. Which could happen, theoretically, but it probably won't.

Not surprised cause he did roll it. We can win if AD and 1 of Reaves, Rui, or Dlo go off.

    LOL.

"If you don't guard them at all, can't hurt the stats"

    -- LeBron James, definitely.

Still …. that’s pretty damn impressive!! This 39 year old man can still lock down D when he has enough energy to do it on top of being still a top tier offensive player in the game.

nick beat me to it, but i think it's his comment moreso than yours, LT (sadly). not that i disagree that lebron does occasionally play good defense still. just that the stat is probably actually reflecting how little defense he plays these days.

opponents are probably shooting 60% on the plays where he points at them while not boxing someone out.

Yeah, that’s a deceiving stat. Nobody is calling for any DOTY votes lol. Eye test people, eye test.

Lebron will defend in spurts. He doesn't have the stamina to play elite offense and good defense for 30+ minutes so the team will just have to live with his warts.

His defensive rating is 112.8 (team average is 114.2 and league average is 115.7)
    His DBPM is +1.6

Both positive metrics so he certainly isn't sinking the team

    He locked Kawhi down ..

His defense was great in the playoffs

I think we have bigger pbs than Lebron's defense

:LLLLLebronlaughing:So true. You left out when he blames his teammates for his mistakes when they don’t guard their man and his too.

true, and this should worry the clips, as kawhi ate his lunch as recently as a couple years ago.

    agree

certainly, but a team leader playing defense on occasion impacts the team. the team's whole vibe is very lebron: just get me to the playoffs. well, you DO have to get there, and you DO have to build habits. lebron doesn't (he's got them), but his teammates (specifically guys like rui, vando, wood, christie, dlo) do. and he needs to take responsibility there, too, imo. this is the elder statesman role.

i'm going on a tangent now, but i feel like he sometimes writes guys off to quickly. it takes time to get sort of "battle-forged". and just demanding that we trade anyone who isn't already there is counter productive.

It's from his Cleveland days: I don't think there is anyone in the GOAT conversation who had a worst supporting cast for his first 7 years or any 7 year period as Lebron had.
If you understand that you understand a lot of how he thinks whether you think it is right or wrong. Waiting for guys like Sasha Pavlovic, Larry Hughes, to mature never happened.

(that being said I don't think he's wrong about Dlo - that dude is Mr. Unreliable in both the regular and playoffs. He clearly loves AR despite AR's ups and downs this year)

Yes Lebron isn't a 82 games player anymore , I'd go as far as he isn't a four quarters player anymore in the regular season .

Can't blame him due to his mileage but yeah a good part of this team being unserious for some seasons is because of him

Given that he shouldn't be paid like a 27 year old 1st option in his prime though

that's my thing, and it's why i don't have the same level of sympathy for lebron that most fans do. i get that his salary is as much about business as on-court stuff, but as a fan, you want the guy making 40% of your cap to be all in.

disagree about the regular season. he's been generally bad in the playoffs. but again, i think that's why we signed gabe. trying to pin our problems this year on dlo was a huge reach, imo. especially with how bad we look when he's not available.

and note that dlo is NOT paid like a star. really not even close. so my expectations are lower, and they're being met and exceeded, tbh.
