Grizz can't catch a break with injuries.

    Top 5-6 pick incoming.

I would keep Max over the pick. If they demand the pick, I ask for a couple second rounders back.

    I'd much rather have Jrue.

Murry or Levine doesn’t matter much to me. I’ll take whichever doesn’t require losing Reaves.

That said I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we acquire neither and a trade we’ve heard nothing about goes down.

i'd rather do the same, but atlanta has much less of a need to get rid of capela (only one year left on his deal after this one, and hunter has been supplanted as well). also, i'm not confident ham would adjust his offense to play capela with AD.

Worth keeping in mind when thinking of who we will/won't be bidding against in the buyout market.

Remember when he was going to cost us first round assets?

    Rob, still say no.

Yeah, offensively they would dominate. They would get 50 and go to the line 20 times.
But on defense, you're getting switched every possession in a high pick with the lead guard. He goes by you quickly and you have a 4 on 3 in mid-court, chucking open 3s. You're trading 2s for 3s.
It's kind of what Embiid is doing. But he got slimmer and is more mobile to not be a liability on defense. If they could do it, they would be Embiid

Orlando Shaq,Robinson,Hakeem and Malone all had quicker feet than Embiid. As long as the big men I mentioned kick it out to their 3 point shooters when 3 guys collapse on them you won’t be trading anything. The MVP of the league has some of slower feet in the NBA but somehow he’s a defending NBA champion.

doubly sucks for them, as this is the last year they've got before bane's contract kicks in. they have 183 million on the books for next year. even if they just straight up waive kennard, they'll still be over the tax line. they also have a few recent first rounders that they can cut, i suppose, but you have to replace them somehow (zaire williams, laravia, roddy, aldama).

wonder if they'll try to move some of those guys for an expiring and a pick...but nobody's giving a first for any of those guys, i don't think.

Those weird, wacky, draft lottery ping pong balls, will probably bless them with the 1st overall pick, in this upcoming draft too.

#1 pick's salary is 10 million. #4's is 7. they've got to figure out their salary structure here.

i'm now VERY interested in how NO will approach their ownership of our pick. this article covers some of it.

they're going to be near the tax line as well, unless they just let valanciunas walk for nothing, which really isn't viable, as nance is their only other "center".

but more importantly, our pick projects to late lotto this year. do they think we'll be even worse next year? it's not a bad bet--though if we're armed with that pick to trade on draft night, we might be able to upgrade our prospects for 2025. we'd suddenly have enough draft capital and tradable contracts to take a big swing should someone demand out. but if they take the pick, they run the risk that we actually suck really hard in 24-25 and they punted a chance at a top 5 pick.

Idk man..it would be crazy if the Pelicans passed on a late lottery pick, because they couldn't afford to pay him. Then we'd all riot, if Rob went and picked Bronny with it.

    Hawks price for Murray

Why Tyus Jones is a good idea if we need a PG after moving DLO

There's also some interesting stuff on whether/ when the Hawks should blow it up. A Trae move this summer is hashed out and (of course) we're listed as one of them teams he think could make sense.

This is a good read if you have The Athletic. Each player is a drop down menu, so can't really copy and paste it.

Above each write up is the player's market value and list of best fits
    Screenshot_20240115_140316_The Athletic.jpg

Here's the suggested value of some of the players we're linked to in the "best fit" category.

    LaVine: 1st & a prospect (HA!)
    Demar: 1 1st
    AC: 1st & a prospect
    Bogi: 1st & an expiring
    Brogdon: late 1st
CP3: salary match in a bigger trade (same categorization as DLO)
    Rozier: unclear
    Trent: 2nds

Cost of some of the other guys we've talked about here:
    Bojan: 1st
    Ty Jones: multiple high 2nds
Deandre Hunter: late 1st or multiple high 2nds & a prospect
    Capela: high 2nds &/or a prospect
    Drummond: multiple 2nds

brogdon and tyus jones interest me in straight swaps for dlo plus a minor asset going out.

both are downgrades in talent, but i think the bridge is in ashes.

interesting that they think murray is worth just one first and a prospect (not sure what qualifies there, tbh).

Golden State is ready to part ways with Chris Paul.

“Paul's contract represents the simplest mechanism by which the Warriors can try to acquire a player who can save their season. His contract, which is worth $30 million, expires after the 2024-25 season and is not guaranteed, allows general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. to participate in any potential talks on the market, including a sweepstakes for Pascal Siakam or Dejounte Murray if they really want to.

The consensus around the league is that the Warriors are open to negotiations and willing to discuss a variety of players to shake things up after a rocky start to the season. However, according to league sources who are not authorized to speak publicly, Golden State is not enthusiastic about the potential transfer of young players Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody .

Capela is terrible value at 21M per year. That makes no sense.
