I like Quickley more than Barrett. Think he has another level as 3 level scorer

Call about a DS + Trent or DS + Poeltl package

(As bad as that looks having to give up assets for someone you let walk.)

I mean, I guess you could do a Rui/Vincent for Trent/Shroeder deal? In theory, Trent is a better fit than Rui because he is a three-point shooter as opposed to the mid-range shooter/isolation scorer that Rui is. Lakers no longer as desperate for big wings, because they now have Reddish and Prince. Lakers also get the chance to rectify a mistake, by swapping Vincent for Dennis. The coach would love for Dennis to come back. Also, you have the Klutch factor with Trent. I would not be crazy about this trade, but it is something that I could see happening as kind of a back up plan to a better trade.

Nice for us sign me up. Why would Toronto find this appealing?

    Rui
    (1) Cost controlled for three years. 17 million per year not too bad.
    (2) Raptors type of player, they tend to really like long wing spans. They also tend to like international players a lot, for what it's worth.
    (3) They could use the length with OG gone, and potentially Siakam gone.

    Vincent
    (1) About 4 years younger than Shroeder. Probably more content as a backup than Dennis.

    Trent
    (1) Having an awful season.
    (2) Probably not all that interested in bringing him back.
    (3) Might not be happy there, looking for a fresh start anyway.

    Shroeder
    (1) Probably pissed that they just traded for his replacement.
    (2) His age not the best mix with their timeline.

I think picks are overrated and certainly don’t mind trades that are just for players. Just seemed like that would’ve gotten at least one first given what they were rumored to be asking for.

I’m all for reasonable deals involving players though. Helps our position in deals a lot IMO.

but i think they were only asking for three or four picks IF the players to match salary weren't worth anything.

maybe i'm wrong, but i never read that you had to give up a ton of picks to get anunoby, only that if you're not offering talent, you're going to have to give up a ton of picks.

quickley can play, and barrett's a former #3 overall pick who did enough to at least earn a second lucrative contract. i don't think he really earns it, but the point is he doesn't suck--this is a rotation-quality player.

curious to see what siakam goes for. he's the kind of guy who could really change a team's fortunes in the current year if toronto accepts picks and junk instead of talent. pau gasol trade type potential...

I'm not sure about the zillion picks being worthless just yet: Lakers won a title and have been good. But it wasn't long ago the Nets/C Bags trade happened and that gifted the C Bags another era of title contention.

I mean Phoenix owes 4 first rounders and a pick swap plus all those contracts. THey're going to have a hard time treading water with any major injures and are struggling just this year before their stars gets older.

yeah, totally unprotected picks have value--because they might be top 5 (like the celts' were). but a lot of these teams that have amassed picks (e.g., knicks) don't have those.

i just think using the one, single, case of success (boston selling its only title team's soul for a bunch of non-titles, btw) as support for the team-building theory is pretty weak. boston is another test case in that as ainge tried to repeat this success, he ended up (quietly) dumping half the picks he got from other deals made under the auspices of being the next nets deal. the nets deal was a debacle we probably never see again, tbh.

we've got three or four teams that have 2-3 FRPs coming up, and i promise they want to rid themselves of those assets, and in the end nobody will want them. as we found out when he held our #17 last summer.

they're magic beans, imo. i guess you can live on the success of one magic bean (ainge), but you can also die on the repeated failure of the same bag.

yep. and not a terrible deal for toronto, either. they could probably route wiggins to another contender for expirings and picks, too.

i'd lol if we moved rui/dlo/top-5 protected '29 1st for wiggins in such a scenario.

The value of the picks will likely go up for teams with big tax hits - only way to really dodge the second aprons is able to draft.
You just look at OKC and man they could be set
