They didn't want to move him last year. Don't want to move him this year. Why is he there?

I mentioned him as a potential PG to target if we move on from DLO and don't get a PG in return or if we do a Kuz deal.

Jones and Gafford would be interesting. 26M isn't outrageous for those two.

The man knows tech and broadcasting, so it's interesting to hear his thoughts on the potential TV deal.

i have a hard time believing he went from elite defensively in SA to meh here in ATL. I think being a perimeter anchor defensively next to Trae is really tough. Maybe 3-4 guys could do it.

The cheap gettable pg list is a short list. I'm not pushing for him, but if lose our only PG on the roster and don't get one in return I'll be looking like Chapelle out there...

Jones was one of the best backups in the league regardless of what we did to that Memphis squad.

Feel like the Raptors have had better offers for OG. We will see how this ends up for them.

Yeah, will be interesting to see how this plays out. Didn't some team offer Toronto four FRPs?

Feel Quickley is the one they must've coveted the most, he's had a great year so far. Perhaps RJ Barrett can do better playing at home in Toronto.

I don't know for the Knicks...you get out of paying Barrett 25 mils a year, but OG will be 35-40 mils a year or else he's going to Philly.

Yeah. Raptors wanted multiple firsts for OG. To not even get one is surprising.

Maybe this shows that all those crazy deals giving up tons of firsts are finally over. Teams will have to be more reasonable with their demands.

i'm in the minority that thinks a zillion picks really isn't worth much. i'd rather have guys who can play. unless the pick you get back ends up top 5, you're more likely to find better players in free agency, year in and year out.

not that picks can't be great, but they're overvalued as a commodity, and i think toronto agrees?

you think this is a tear-down move? i don't. seems like a roster balance move to me. barnes is a 3, siakam's a 4, and barrett's a 2. quickley can step in and start at the 1, imo, and poeltl's the 5.

all that said, the raptors have to see something in barrett that i don't. he's having a down year, and one could argue he's never really had a great one. one could thus argue that his contract has kind of negative value. toronto's betting on a different situation making him look better, i guess. also, he's canadian, right? agree with bryant on this one.

i think it is, assuming they're also going to deal siakam. they're 12-19 and i don't see how barrett/quickly makes them much better. the logical thing to do would be to also deal siakam for some young talent/picks and maybe they could pull off a rebuild on the fly without completely tearing it down

Player wise, I like it for both teams. Quickley gets out from under Thibs, he and Barnes gives them a nice duo moving forward. OG levels up the Knicks, Thibs is going to really like having him.

Trade wise, Masai Ujiri waited too long. He should've started trading off assets at the deadline. He had offers for 3 and 4 first rounders, instead only got a second rounder in this one. I'm glad they didn't because I didn't want OG going to Memphis.

Hopefully that sets the market for pick inclusion this year. The price is higher now than at the deadline and if only one second is being coughed up now, that's good for us

That second round pick is more valuable though because (1) It will be a high second round pick, probably 31-32 (2) The pick is in the next draft, which is a weak draft but teams generally prefer picks that are sooner rather than later.
