Don't be suprised if they overpay Jordan Hill again. That'd be the last straw for me before joining the #SellTheTeam bandwagon

Agreed on the Portland points. But for the record, I've been posting ad nauseam for the last 3 years the Lakers need to be building rather than going into the offseason with this all or nothing approach. This isn't a one year problem for the Lakers, it's been their mentality since D12 left.

Failure to adapt to the new CBA, demands of players, statistical advances and arrogance (Thanks GCC) for the last 3 years, mixed in with questionable coaching hires and FO tension gives many no reason to have a positive outlook on them.

If we don't get top tier FA, that's fine, just don't muck up and embarrass us along the way.

Spurs are about to do some salary cap voodoo. I'm actually interested on how they'd do it to max LMA

they need to get over trying to find the next "face of the franchise" that's been their problem

get these young guys some quality talent to develop around and call it a day. no need to try and find the next retired number. that could be russell, randle, or clarkson if these morons can actually get some talent to sign in LA

As if it was any surprise, LMA goes to SA. We missed out on the big names, let's get some decent players please. But no more Carlos Boozers or Jeremy Lins pls and thank you.

I read an article that the Lakers reached out to Koufos a couple of days ago but Koufos knew he would need to wait until the LMA saga was resolved.

I'm actually glad we aren't getting LMA. The Lakers weren't winning jack next year anyway and this allows the young guys to grow.

Get Koufos or some other young, cheap center, a journeyman 3, and a backup PG. that would be a great offseason!

I can't argue with that. I have been a supporter of the home run approach in Free Agency because I don't like overpaying role players. But, I think it ultimately is for the team's long term good that we missed on all three of Dwight, Melo, and now LMA. Mitch's plan B approach of finding low risk / high reward bargains like Ed Davis and JHill seemed to be working well until they once again abandoned something good (Davis) for the slight possibility of something better (LMA). I'm solidly in the team building mindset now. A top FA MAY come our way eventually, but we are out of draft picks now, and we need to start adding solid mid-tier guys to put together a solid team first.

There are still some players available that we can get that will make me satisfied. Don't go after vet's waaaay passed their time and don't get a bunch of one year rentals. Trade for Hibbert, Morris/Tucker from Suns, Koufos, Bizmack, KJ, Lou Williams... there are still options, don't mess it up FO.

it was pretty clear from the start that LMA wasn't going to sign with us. it was the spurs from the start. DJ too, i would have been shocked if he hadn't signed with dallas

the only one i'm bummed that we missed out on was monroe

Let's resurrect Hibbert's career. He's still young, and in the past he's shown that he knows how to play basketball. He's just got some mental block. Put him into boot camp with Cap, get him Metta's psychologist.

I actually think we could do just that. His contract is hefty though and has a trade kicker to boot. Mitch would need to find a bargain at backup PG and SF.

Well yeah. How old is that wand. There's graphene strengthened high tech models that won't break like above out now. Saw one on Craig's list.

LaMarcus Aldridge, Spurs agree to $80 million contract

The All-Star forward will leave Portland and join the Spurs, where he and Kawhi Leonard can lead the franchise into a new era.

LaMarcus Aldridge has made his decision. He will be heading to the San Antonio Spurs to team up with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonardand Gregg Popovich. He'll get $80 million over four years, with a player option after year three. The news was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Aldridge is expected to sign a four-year maximum contract that will total around $80 million.

That the Spurs were able to sign Aldridge is a testament to the creativity of their front office. Entering the summer, they did not have maximum cap space, but they were able to create the room necessary by trading previous starting center Tiago Splitter to Atlanta. San Antonio even managed to re-sign starting shooting guard Danny Green and will eventually give Leonard a five-year maximum contract for $90 million.

Aldridge chose San Antonio after meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns. Both intrigued him, as did the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors. The Portland Trail Blazers, Aldridge's current team, never ruled out him returning. But in the end, he will join San Antonio and help usher in a new era for the league's model franchise.

They at least keep their pick as long as it's in the lottery.

Look at it this way, now that LMA, DJ, Monroe, and Wade are signed; we can move on to the five remaining FAs out there if Mitch and Scott don't fail in those meetings too.

I hate that the CLIPPERS are being mentioned in potential sign and trade deals for Koufos....we need to act now.
