I don't know what you mean by "a legit starter." All three of these guys start pretty regularly. Hibbert starts - and plays 26 a night. Between 25.1 and 29.8 each of the past six seasons. Career averges: 11.1 points, 6.8 boards, 46% FGs. Koufos has started 139 games, including 106 in the past three seasons. He has averaged between 16.5 and 22.4 per game in the past four seasons. He averages 5.4 points and 4.7 rebounds on 53% shooting. Biyombo has started 136 games over the past four seasons. He has averaged between 13.9 and 27.3 MPG over the past four seasons. His career numbers are 4.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 50% FGs. Last year: Hibbert 25.3 MPG, 10.6 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1.1 APG, 1.6 BPG, 45% FG Koufos 16.6 MPG, 5.2 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 0.5 APG, 0.8 BPG, 51% FG Biyombo 19.4 MPG, 4.8 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 0.3 APG, 1.5 BPG, 54% FG Hibbert is 29. Koufos is 26. Biyombo is 23. There are reasons to prefer each of these three players. I'd welcome any one of them.
Ha, I think we might need Dr Phil to settle down the sibling rivalry or even Richard Dawson to settle the family feud. All this glory and we are going to fall because of daddy issues? Unbelievable.
Sleeping on it, I hope LMA chooses the Suns because they have to dump 11 million in salary to be able to afford him. The two most likely candidates are PJ Tucker and the good Morris twin. If I'm Mitch I take that and run, send back Kelly and Sacre. Morris has 3 years left on his at 8 million per, that's not bad and Tucker is a non-guaranteed 5.3 million next season, again not bad. That would still leave us with 12 million left in cap space to fill out the rooster (Major League reference wise guys)..... Bring in Kosta - 6 million Bring in KJ or Lou Williams - 6 million Russell (4.2) / JC (845k) Kobe (25) / KJ or Lou (6) / Brown (845k) Tucker (5.5) / Young (5.2) / Brown (500k) Randle (3.1) / Morris (8) / Nance (1) Kosta (6) / Black (845k) / Upshaw (500k) Total - 67.5 That's a legit 10 deep squad.
I think it is a bit of Mitch's fault. We don't really do analytics, and apparently we think it's a good idea to sell people on Los Angeles despite the fact that LA lives in LA and, moreover, this is a global economy we live in. You can have the exposure no matter where you live, as long as you're good at your craft.
Wow, LOL! I understand we have a quota to fill, and enjoy poking fun at it. My comment was a joke that Kobe gets blamed for just about everything. Even if it's not on him.
I was thinking along similar lines. I read that the Lakers have reached out to Koufos but that Koufos knows he must wait until LMA decides. The Lakers like to fly under the radar so we'll see what happens once LMA makes up his mind. I also like the idea of the Lakers being opportunistic in getting cheap, young talent by being a trade partner with the Suns or whomever.
I think Morris would end up being part of a trade for LMA, not just jettisoned. That wouldn't make any sense to get nothing back.
My understanding is that the Suns would need to clear space by trading away Morris, Tucker, or someone else to sign LMA. The Lakers with space could absorb those guys. LMA would just sign without trying to work out a S&T with Portland. Here's what Woj says on the subject and it comports with everything I've read so far .... Suns need to get off Markieff Morris/PJ Tucker in sign-and-trades or dumps to get closer to space needed for Chandler and Aldridge.
