Is Lavine even that much of an upgrade over Dlo? Certainly not at the salary he commands and his knee issues.

I’ve always been intrigued by Lavine as a potential fit here and of course I’d love to get the Eagle back. Just don’t know about that Lavine contract though.

LaVine is an upgrade over Dlo in terms of three-point shooting accuracy, though not this season. It depends on how the Lakers feel about having a non traditional PG. They seem to be going back and fourth with this. I men, if Austin goes back into the starting line up, that solves the problem, but is it ideal for Zach to be chasing around quick PGS when he has knee issues? I'm not sure that would be ideal. What about Terry Rozier? Who else is available?

Russell, Rui, Vincent and JHS for LaVine, Caruso, and Phillips does work. I dont think we need to include first round picks, maybe two 2nds. Worse scenario, I may be willing to part with a first, only because we dump Vincent and his contract.

I'm just not at all interested in paying someone $40m+ who's an injury concern when we already have the injury concerns with AD and Bron. Depth is the solution next to them. Then add in that he's a subpar defender, just no.

I like that DD's is much cost friendly. He's expiring and early talks are that you can get him on an extension in the lower $20m range and that would better line up with the Bron/AD duo window without giving up multiple depth pieces.

Spilled milk, but if you had a Bamba or Beasley salary slot you could do deal with one of them, Gabe, JHS, one 1st and some seconds for DD and AC.

I doubt the Lakers would want DD. He does nothing to improve our weaknesses.

Getting DD would be a mistake like the Westbrook trade. I mean come on man.

We have some interest in him if he's available, have had interest in him for years, more so than LaVine according to Buha.

I don't think he makes sense with both this version of DLO (with AR on the bench) and with Rui's shot spots overlapping with DD. But I still take him at what will be half the price of LaVine, who I think is fool's gold.

Financially speaking: Mistakes in the 20s are much easier to handle than mistakes in the 40s.

I don't get it. He is a mid-range shooter. We don't need that.

Are we really this stupid to try this again?

We're going to nuke our depth to get...Zach Lavine?

He doesn't solve any of our issues and he's injury prone and we gotta pay him $45M+ every year for next 4 years...

Not a fan of this AT ALL especially because it most certainly means we're giving up DLO and Rui to make it happen and LIKELY one of our future picks as well. Zach Lavine is NOT worth all of that.

There's a reason he's on the block...he's not that good.

Even if we get Bald Eagle back...I'm goign to be scratching my head at this type of deal after we preached "continuity" all summer long.

Then we'll have to "adjust" once again and probably fall further in the standings as a result.

It's a tough call: laVine's lower your floor as his injury risk is much higher than Dlo. The ceiling though is definitely higher IMO, Lavine really is a freak athlete that when he's on you can't play him off the floor like you can Dlo. Lavine is nothing to write home for on defense but he's still an upgrade over Dlo as his athletic ability allows him to guard a wide variety of offensive players.

I don't know..maybe we should wait until we get Vincent and Vanderbilt back, before thinking about making a big trade?

Gabe has only played in 4 games. Yes his 1st game was rough, but on the positive side, he's a plus 27 in the last 3, with 10 assists, 5 steals and 0 turnovers.

We already have an idea of what Jared brings to table. Adding those two guys back into the mix, is going to adjust the rotations, and present some different in-game looks.

It might be prudent to see how that shakes out first, and then we'd have a better idea of which guys, are going to get squeezed on the playing time.

We are in need of another ball handler, and adding an elite perimeter defender, is always a good thing. We have both of those, already on our roster as it is.

A month from now, we could be in love with this roster. If not, we'd have some more clarity on what isn't working. My two cents on the subject.

I strongly prefer keeping our depth.

If we were going to give up our depth, I think there are better targets than Lavine.

See if there is a smaller deal for Caruso. If not, pass on a deal with Chicago.

If you are only looking at their on-court impact, yes, he actually is. LaVine's basketball skill(s) don't concern me at all. He'd be great for the Lakers. His potential # of games missed and the contract are another story. Now, DD would fit in the same way Rui does. Yes, he's better than Rui, but he's much older too. So, basically -- why?

Finally, Caruso: exactly the player we need right now. He's a "bulldog" defensively and can hit the 3. We need someone like that who can play some combo guard with attitude. Might solve several problems we have right now and we should not have let him go in the first place.

    I agree with this.

Team already looks better with just a couple of guys back. Let's get everyone back healthy and then go from there.

I am almost as much of a fan of UCLA Basketball as I am of the Lakers and it is always super cool when we can get a solid Bruin on this team. But even being a fan, I don't want Lavine at this price. Way too much money for talent with problems.

the good news is we literally CAN'T do anything of real substance for at least a month. we'll know more then, and i'm inclined to think we'll feel better about the current roster then.

Hopefully we're just letting Rich use us to leverage Miami

lavine would be a disaster. not just because of the contract, but because he'll get injured his second game and miss the rest of the season. guy is far too injury prone for my liking
