Teams in trouble if Reaves can't be played in the finishing lineup. Losing Dennis and his defense/driving has messed up Reaves a bit on offense/defense. Better complement than DLo as Reaves ends up being put on the tougher defensive assignement
If Ham doesn’t want to/is unwilling to play Max Christie any mins, if we can swing for a defensive wing that’s 6’8” and above and a bruiser 5, i really think we can be in the thick of things even before the trade deadline. (Perhaps once Vando is back and plays 30+ mins a game, we’ll look a lot different). Those are the two most glaring opportunities I see for the current personnel. Too many small guards/combo guards who don’t prioritize defense or stick to shooters (everyone becomes a shooter when they play the Lakers… yawn)
Problem is there is no bruiser 5 with minimum required skills unless they come up with some surprise trade later. Lakers didn’t want Biyombo.
i would argue gabe's our only small guard. dlo and reaves are 6'5". we've got big wings, but yeah, no real beef at the center spot. i really don't think the roster is our biggest concern. we should be able to win 60+% of our games with the current roster, no problem.
West is super talented though, I mean Memphis is 0-4 yet I don't think anyone doesn't think they are talented group even with all their injuries
a week in, and we're already down three rotation players just in time to lose to the clips again. boo.
not done: against us, orlando goes 14-35 from three and almost wins. against the clips, 7-30 and get smashed, allowing them to rest PG and kawhi for our 11th straight loss.
Down three wings ? Yikes . Lebron needs to do more then Lebron is out then AD needs to do more then ... you know the circle ..
What bothered me about the Gabe talk about he wasn't as bad as he looked as in general he was in good position on Defense misses the opportunity costs. Basketball still is an athletic contest and if you can combine size and athleticism that gets you advantages that you may not see just watching film on a player. A deflection that they would not be able to reach, a board that was too high for him wouldn't reflect badly on a player like Gabe but you see the difference when you go with size/athleticism.
Here's my WMC - make your god damn free throws. That game should not have gone to OT and we were lucky to have pulled it out after we blew a 9 pt lead with 2 mins left in the game. Another WMC - the only reason that we got to play those big lineups was because of injuries...otherwise Ham would have had Gabe vincent tryign to guard PG/Kawhi and playing 35 useless a** minutes.
That muscled ref is the new Eric Lewis, goddamn calling ridiculous calls, tech on Jarvis dunk, foul on Cam on PG’s 3, goaltending on Bron
I hate conditional fouls. It's either a foul or it's not. Make or miss shouldn't dictate the whistle. It's been that way forever but I hate it. Drives me up the wall.
Did he do all of those?!! What a jack***. Jaxson on that dunk was totally pulling up for safety as his feet were so far forward he was doing a back plank 9 feet off the floor, and that pull essentially stops the backward swing and allowed him to drop in perfect balance. The other two calls were bad and wrong as well.
Ham, can you please try to motivate these dudes, so we don't have to climb out of the double-digit hole every single time? Thanks.
both gabe and prince having mysterious swelling/pain is not good. especially with vando already out for a while. hopefully max can credibly take some of the gabe minutes, but with rui also out, it's going to stretch everyone thin. we can't have AD and lebron playing 40mpg.
Agree but I think it’s partly the lineup. As I said in the Wood thread let’s start him and see if that doesn’t bring more energy to that starting lineup.
Non Laker related WMC... I'm all for trying out new things like the In Season Tournament.. but One Week into the Season..?? Really..??
With the exception of the final which they play in Vegas , all tournament games will also count as regular season games. To accommodate the different number of games played by different teams, the NBA regular season schedule formula will be adjusted so that only 80 games per team are initially scheduled . The 22 teams that do not qualify for the playoffs of the tournament will play two additional games, one at home and one away, against the other teams eliminated before the playoffs. The four teams that lost in the quarterfinals will play one more game against each other. Everyone will have 82 games each, except for the two finalists.
