Yikes. With JHS I have been overtly joking about another "bone bruise" scenario, while secretly figuring it DID sound somewhat similar to what Nunn had done with some kind of hard impact wherever that sucker was. Let's f****** hope that's where the similarity ends. Or else all the negativity already for the guy will turn into open season on him. What is a patella contusion
I wonder why Colin is out considering Denver’s size. Simply too soon they figure or he too has some little ding? Guessing the former.
I just saw that McDaniels will be making over $27 million per year. That means if Jarred was able to be a 36% three point shooter and everything else about his game stays the same, he could easily have gotten over $20 million per year. I like Jarred but he's gotta find a way to knock down those wide open threes. I can't remember the series but there were more than a few games where he would miss wide open threes when the next closest defender was football fields away from him. Even hitting the corner threes would make a huge impact to his game. Still, the Lakers got him for great value and if they ever needed to trade him, they shouldn't have any issues. $12 million per year for a 6'8 player who can guard 1-3 and sometimes 4 depending on the matchup shouldn't be an issue to trade.
he'll never be a shooter. those mechanics are screwy, and i think it's because that's the only way he can hit those shots. he *may* hit enough of those corner threes to stay on the floor, but mcdaniels has a much better stroke (even if he's not really a marksman) and can hit them from different spots. vando's hit 33% from the corners for his career. if he can get that up to 40+, that would help, but his real value is, as you said, on defense. you have to play 4 good offensive players with him, but if you do, he's a difference maker with hustle plays and both individual and team defense. i think mcdaniels just has a lot more offensive potential (though minny paid a lot for potential there).
Aaron Larsuel was on Irwin's pod today and said that Vando's heel isn't great and wouldn't expect him back that soon. Not sure of when the reevaluation date is.
if we're going to shoot 15% from three with the other team packing the paint, we might as well play vando 30mpg.
2 games in and we're missing his defense with the starters already. Prince fits offensively but he can't guard Murray or Durant like Vando can.
Better than, "well heel bursitis is tough just have to see". Even if they're lying to us. https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/diseases-conditions/bursitis-of-the-heel
at first i was like "bursitis? i had that in my shoulder, got a cortisone shot, rested for a couple weeks, and it healed up". but then i read this stuff: wonder if vando's offseason regimen did him in here. anyway, let's let him rest a long time. other guys need to step up. cam's actually doing a decent poor man's impression, imo.
