Yeah and truth be told, teams like the Spurs, Clips and Mavs have ALOT more to lose than we do by playing this waiting game. The Spurs were contenders, and dissected their team to get LMA. The Clippers will undoubtedly get worse if they lose DJ. The Mavs are destined to be mediocre. We're rock bottom. We can't go any lower. We can only go up. So if a player like LMA or DJ has shown legitimate interest, and if that's the difference between 35 wins or the playoffs, we HAVE to gamble.
DeAndre Jordan has informed the Knicks he has eliminated them from contention. Looks like that means we're still in it with DJ. I personally think him and Clarkson / Russell running tons of pick and rolls would be incredible.
In our division alone there's two title contenders. So yea, it's gonna be rough. But what's better, sitting here and being pissed that we haven't had any luck with FA's or being hopeful that we had good draft picks to watch and build on.
So can someone enlighten me. How in the world is Dallas always favored as a preferable FA destination in these reports when they currently have a gutted team? As far as I can tell they have an aging Dirk... and Parsons. edit: Oh sorry... they just signed Matthews... coming off an Achilles injury.
How about Biyombo, Black, Upshaw fight for starter position at 5 and give rest of minutes to the other 2, with Black spelling minutes at PF per situation? If that happens Sacre traded by deadline or sooner.
Mark Cuban does a better job of pitching, Parsons sucks a mean one (as someone here put it, can't remember your name), and Rick Carlisle is one of the better coaches in the league right now.
Great enthusiastic owner who's always willing to spend, one of the best coaches in the league, and Texas having no state income tax
I get the coach and enthusiastic owner... but... this is also the same owner who gutted a championship team. I have respect for Carlisle. Cuban... meh. I do concede that he does better sales pitches than the Buss siblings though.
You are right that it is good to be optimistic and watch our young core progress and grow together. I am actually excited about that. But I think a lot of us are peeved that management can't give a good presentation or that they are stuck on these big names and aren't seemingly doing anything else to help improve our team, not necessarily because we failed to bring Aldridge or DJ to the Lakers.
Nah too many eye tests have confirmed what we have with Russell, Randle and Clarkson and Black. By Christmas with health and Mamba and Russell and Randle and Clarkson making teammates better. Glass half full Guy
Sacre has his worth because he's a big body in practice and can be counted on to be ready when there's an injury. As much as I like Upshaw, we have to evaluate his mental state long-term to trust him with a valuable roster spot.
That I can relate to. I'm all for signing good players over waiting for great ones, at the same time I don't think we need to be throwing stupid money around. The Ed Davis one hurt the most in my opinion. Good player at a position we need for a great price....that one still stings
For real. I hate when players do this s*** and hold teams "hostage". Make your damn mind so we can move on!
It's almost like they're deciding on signing away their talents for a 4 year block and having to choose a new city for their family and basketball legacy.
