Well we need a back-up PG and it's still debatable whether Russell/Clarkson might be more of a SG in the NBA. And I don't buy in to the idea that Rondo is a cancer. If we're confident that Kobe and Scott can keep him in check, and we explain the situation to him, I wouldn't mind him for something like $14 million/2 years. He'd have to know that he's here to mentor our young guards. Kobe caters to the SG nature within Russell/Clarkson, Rondo caters to the true PG within them. He'd likely start in the beginning of the season to make sure that Russell knows he has to work for a starting spot, but once Russell steps up, Rondo would be in charge of running the bench for the rest of his tenure here. But really I'm just desperate and trying to delude myself.
Russell/Clarkson Kobe/McDaniels/J.Brown Harris/Young/A.Brown Randle/Black/Nance Biyombo/Black/Upshaw I have that team (conservatively) between 33 and 41 wins, but I think the best part about it is that it has Russell, Randle, Clarkson, and Upshaw - who are all high upside players, and Black, Nance, and A. Brown who are all good candidates for role players.
Because Tarik Black is none of those guys. He's a good player, but he's not Dwight and he's not Rodman and if he's lucky and works his tail off MAYBE he's Wallace. Height always matters in the NBA. Mozgov looked like an unstoppable beast at times in the Finals because the Warriors were just too small to guard him.
Yes, he is. Biz is an elite defender with freakish length and athleticism. He has a natural talent for playing defense. Which is something we need on this team.
McDaniels is tough to project because he's so young. Let me do some more advanced digging, but at present I have him: *K.J. McDaniels +1.3 wins, -175
I don't even really want Aldridge, he's wildly inefficient, 16 feet+ shooter as a 7 footer (at 40%) and you're not Dirk? And he's too chicken to play center? (How he isn't getting a ton of crap for that is beyond me) But at the same time, I think having him and the young core would improve our chances at snagging another big name next season and maybe a 2nd tier free agent that can help change the future of the franchise to where I do hope we get him, though I feel like it's unlikely at this point.
Comparing Tarik Black to three guys who have a combined 9 DPOYS, 16 All-D 1st teams, and 3 All-D 2nd teams? Hmm.
He plays defense and single handedly made the hornets bettee on the defensive end. I forgot where i saw it but their efficiency rating and ppg allowed while he was on the floor was like a 13 pt difference We need a center that plays D and since he was released then he comes cheap. Why pay rolo 12-13 mil and asik 60 mil for 5 yrs when you can get essentially the same production and arguably better defense for half the price.
I was actually making a case for Biyombo. In a few years could be a terror on defense. Production over height for me.
Corey brewer and biyombo Its basically a "lost" season since no premier FA signed here so might as well let the rookies develop hope they play well and try again next year. No point in using up cap space for multiple years for someone that wont be a difference maker. Next year we'll find out if its true people didnt wanna play with kobe. We gotta see if someone wants to fill his shoes. Maybe that's what theyre waiting for but we'll see
Biyombo is going to be 23 this year. He's basically like getting another lottery pick, but he's already a vet. Not signing him is stupid; he'd be a defensive upgrade over every big man on our roster this season or last.
