Rescued from mid Page 2 .... I guess I could get with the JaVale McGee role comps more easily if this guy was NOT 50lbs lighter, but hope for the best here. On flip slide maybe he can move better and help more when switched onto wings / smaller and quicker players than Javale. But what Javale and Dwight gave us in that championship season is still what we need down low .... some heft and muscle to give AD a break on defense. https://lakeshowlife.com/2023/09/18/lakers-player-preview-jaxson-hayes-javale-mcgee/
man, that article was largely depressing. a walk down big man failure lane. this part worried me a lot: lol, he went from a team begging for a mobile big (with no competition at the mobile big spot) to a team with two very mobile and more proven bigs who really needed a brute type. what could go wrong? anyway, i'm not here to throw shade (except at jessica simpson, who looks rough there). much like with wood, i'm hoping to be wrong and enjoy my wrongness.
As good as MVP (AD) is looking and the way he is shooting I wouldn't mind him and Jaxson getting minutes together. All that energy and athleticism is fun.
Wasn’t able to pay too much attention to the first few preseason games, but from what I’ve seen I like his energy. He’s able to bring the ball up the floor, ball doesn’t stick to him on offense, playing with energy The negative is that I’ve sometimes gotten him confused for JHS. He’s lacking in size, doesn’t really seem like a true center. But we don’t really have many options there.
He's a wildcard for us. Looked like he belonged out there last night. He's having an easier time fitting/adjusting than Wood. Really good energy and activity so far.
The McGee role comparisons were spot on. He’ll be able to find rotation mins over Wood if he keeps doing the little stuff the team needs.
How about with Wood at times off the bench. Plus Rui, Christie and Vincent or other guard who can shoot. Size up the butt, speed, rebounding ….. and 3 point shooting from everyone around Hayes. That could murder other bench units.
i liked some of his passing. he got rid of the ball quickly when it found him in bad spots and even turned a couple into handoff/screens for decent shots. and with table setters like lebron, dlo, and reaves, he should get some easy buckets.
