    Ouch.

I'd really like to get him for DLO + a wing, but...
    1) that would have to be either Vando or Rui because I don't see us investing that much in the three of them.
    2) we can't trade Vando this year if we wanted.
    3) I don't think he's worth DLO and Rui.

Well..Jrue didn't play that well against Miami..he shot poorly and wasn't exactly locking anyone down. Middletown was the guy that ascended in the Bucks Championship run IMO. Him being hurt last year, was the Bucks biggest issue for me. That being said...he is still a good player. I'd trade D'Angelo and something for him in a heartbeat...Rui and a 1st rd pick tho? No..Lebron isn't going to be around much longer, I'm not totally convinced that Holliday would make us that much better or Grant. I really like Rui, and I love Jarred..but I'd trade Jarred before Rui.

Vando can't be traded this year. Jrue was pivotal in making steals and big plays vs. the Suns in the finals. I love Rui and he's on a nice contract, but again I see Jrue as a great piece who could extend Lebron's career and fit extremely well with AD and with Ham (because he already has). SF is the one luxury position we have right now where we almost too stacked. Jrue might be the only guy though that I would move Rui for this year. Of course it's all moot until December to see if Jrue is still around.

That Jerami Grant contract was absurd: 32 million a year for him for 5 years? Felt like Portland outbid themselves for that who was going to give him that kind of money?
Makes trading for him difficult even though I think he would be a great fit on the Lakers

It's not a big argument..I like Jrue too..however..I truly believe that we have enough as is. I just think that the pieces we have right now, fit well with Lebron and AD, and can extend Lebron's career too.

True, but we didn’t count on Rondo for 36-40mpg, and as good as Rondo was for us, that was his last hurrah and he fell off a cliff after that season. Rondo was also not worth a Max contract let alone a Supermax. He also didn’t cost us two starters and a 1st to acquire.

It's not a perfect analogy. Rondo also wasn't an All Star the year before like Jrue was last year. Nor did he average 19 points a game, 5 boards and 7 assists with 47% shooting. The thing for me is that Jrue just turning 33 this summer is not old. It's not really close. Maybe if he was like 36 I'd consider him old. Right now he's perfectly capable of playing starter's minutes and D-ing up on the opponent's best guard. In the West that will be exceedingly important come playoff time. Last year Dlo showed he wasn't that guy. I mean, even now you are talking about him being our starter but that's not guaranteed. Nor is Rui guaranteed as a starter. I like Dlo but if he does well this season he's out to get his bag too with a player's option. Not sure he isn't a rental either. I love Rui, I'm not moving him except for a player I think fits our team exceptionally well and gives us a lot better chance of winning it all. Jrue is that guy for me, but I get he's not for others here. Just this talk of Jrue being somehow over the hill and washed at 33 after an All Star year seems premature to me.

The veteran leadership that Rondo demonstrated truly helped us win a championship. That's the thing I could see helping us get to the top again in the next two years and what I could see Holiday providing. We have a lot of great youth right now. We don't have that other vet leader who everyone listens to.

If I recall, Lillard made it known that he wanted Portland to keep Grant before he made his trade request. Basically helped his friend get $160M and then 24 hours later asked out. It was a stupid contract either way, but another reason the loyalty narrative from Dame doesn’t fly.

Jrue is great and would love him on the team. My issues are he is not worth 2 starters plus a 1st for a one season rental. I don’t think there is any way we sign him to the Supermax at the end of the year.

I don't think we offer him a supermax. But are we sure he would demand that to stay with Lebron and AD here in his hometown? Again, neither Dlo nor Rui are guaranteed starters. That's part of the issue for me. We had to sit Dlo down in the playoffs when it mattered. Even now he's going to have to battle it out with Vincent for the starting role. Rui as good as he is also isn't guaranteed to start.

But again, all this may be moot discussion if Jrue is gone before December 15th anyway. Until then we get to see how both Dlo and Rui fit the current squad and evaluate their roles. Who knows maybe I'll feel as you do by then, that it's not worth changing things up.

I remember that. It may be why Portland were so stringent with Miami.
It was a stupid contract indeed. I like the player and fit with AD, but I don't want to get anywhere near that contract

once grant signed that contract, it was clear he was going to be traded to a contender for a protected 1st and expiring salary. that's too much cash for what he does. and i like him a lot, actually.

Is Ozempic a banned substance in the NBA? And I'm not kidding really curious to see what the league rules regarding this stuff may or may not be

Doesn't look like a direct "performance enhancer", so good question.

So there was a couple big articles on the Dame trade today. A lot to unpack from both. I'll try to hit the highlights...

    But first the angles:
-Woj: nothing from him below, but since he was first to this, i think he is Milwaukee sourced.
-Shams: MIA sourced, his framing has been favorable to them throughout
    -Haynes: very close with Dame.

So while reading, keep that in mind.

Dame was willing to start the season with Portland to give them more time to work out the Heat deal. Cronin didn't think that'd work.
Blazers wanted Bam or Butler, talks weren't serious
    Miami's package
When Cronin and Goodwin (agent) were no longer communicating, they opened up the list of teams
    Toronto... not on that list
Makes sense, not a great market and even with him they're outside of the top 2 in the East.

    Bucks and Nets were though
Bucks offered the chance to win, Brooklyn offered up the big market. Looks like it is clear he wanted to go East. Smart bet considering how stacked it is out West.

The Ayton-Nurk side was worked out in July

    Now to the Haynes piece

Dame wasn't happy with how this summer played out
Portland and Miami haven't spoken since summer league
Guessing Holiday isn't going to MIA

Miami didn't think they got a chance, Dame thinks the front office let it get personal, and why Portland cut Dame and his agent out of it
Cronin and Dame met on 9/5 -- Dame disappointed with negotiations thus far, Cronin wanted best he could get (Bam/Butler) from MIA, Dame wanted to stay if he couldn't go to MIA and Cronin said no.
    Goodwin's plan C
Things had gotten so bad that the NBA stepped in last week
