I really don't see OG going for Dame. He's the ideal player for a contender, every team would love to have him. If Toronto wants to contend (by trading for Dame), OG is a key piece in that team. More than Siakam or Barnes.

Wouldn't be completely surprised to see Siakam in that deal. He's really loved in Toronto but if Toronto wants to make a bold move for the title, he may have to go. Trent defense is needed to cover Dame.

I understand the push as the East is a bit open. Miami will still be strong but it doesn't seem to be enough, Bucks are with their backs against the wall with their window and they can't have any major injury in postseason. Boston made a weird bet to go big, let's see how that goes. Sixers are in shambles. Atlanta and Chicago are a blow up waiting to happen. Knicks will never win with that roster. Cleveland and Indiana may be cooking something there but a title may be too much. But even the rebuilding teams (Detroit, Orlando...) don't seem to be getting there anytime soon. Washington blew up, Nets need a move to be in contention and Charlotte is a joke.

It's a good time to bet for a 3 year window in the East. Wonder why the Nets aren't interested in jumping on Portland. I think they want Ben to have a couple good months and try to oversell him for some GM who loves Ben. There's always a guy. Like Pelinka with Buddy Hield

i'd wager on him not deciding to entirely burn down his legacy, as he seems to really care about that. then again, he's already shown to be one of the bigger hypocrites i can remember...

    hmmm....i have multiple thoughts.

    1. OG is starting to get overrated, i think? yes, contrary to miami plants in the media, he's DEFINITELY better than herro--i can't believe they said that with a straight face when we know for a fact that several 1sts were offered for OG at the deadline while miami's been peddling herro to whomever for a similar return and gotten no takers. that said, it's not like toronto's giving up superstar here. OG is a very nice player. he has some limitations and get hurt a lot, though. he's also been grumbly in the past about his role there, iirc, so he's probably leaving one way or another. might as well bring in a star while doing it, and turning down the picks indicates to me that they'd prefer that.

    2. trent's not a defender. i think the raptors would have the defenders to cover for lillard, too. they added DS and mcdaniels (another reason OG is on his way out, i think) in the offseason.

    3. agree that it's a good time to try to contend in the east (or west). there just aren't any dominant teams. ok, maybe denver, but i don't believe in their health and motivation.

    4. i think the nets have tried to get in on lillard, right? guessing portland told them the same thing they told miami about herro: find me something instead of him. i don't know why but i'm still a mild sucker for simmons and think it's possible he gets his head on straight and returns to form. that's a HUGE risk, though. that said, the place to do it is on a tanking team that needs to meet the salary floor anyway, right? and his deal is two years shorter than herro's, so if he sucks, he's a huge expiring next year.

well, except for the league's most dangerous three point shooter this side of steph curry. i like siakam and barnes (and poeltl) playing with a one-man advantage on offense due to all lillard's gravity. they won't be shooting threes; they'll be dunking and eating offensive boards.

also, they could still trade for a shooter if it comes to that. or it's possible to configure a deal without trent, i guess. porter and young are both on expirings. if you add achiuwa to them, that's probably similar to trent's value. or those pieces get moved for a buddy hield type in a separate move.

my whole point is that toronto makes more sense than miami and can make a better offer without killing themselves in the process. everyone is stuck on the fact that toronto wouldn't be better than the theoretical miami team with lillard while focusing on the fact that that team can't exist because the return is too low.

who do they think they are, the Clippers?

    :Magicwow4:

This is why owners lock out players when negotiating CBA's. To protect them from themselves. At least in this case, it won't help them win a championship. Their window has closed, but they can remain competitive. But for a 200 million penalty? No way, sorry. That's bad business. Irresponsible.

Damn …. there’s no way to grab gifs from your site with a phone. Is there? Hold finger on them and no option for “copy image address”

There is. I post almost exclusively from my phone. It's not easy. You have to to through the process with the photo until you get to the sourcing of it ending in ".gif"

I use Tenor the most and once you open the gif, if you open it on a new tab that'll give you a url destination that you can drop in the "image url" button in our reply box. A site like giphy is 4 steps, I think, which is why I avoid that one.

@sirronstuff ….. iPhone 14. No copy image address to paste in the field here and have it show up as a gif when hitting enter. I tried just copy/pasting the link into the body of the message and got a (NoGo/Error) image instead in my post on a Rob gif.

Like JSM says it’s a PITA on a phone.

    Wow!

It's not Miami, but if Dame wants to compete he'll get that chance next to Antetokounmpo and Middleton. They have the defense with their bigs to hide his shortcomings. Really surprised they were willing to give up Holiday. Assuming this is a response to Greek Freak's recent pressure on the FO.

f***ing Suns get some non minimum level talent, so that sucks.

Not sure what direction the Blazers are going. With Ayton and Holiday, they're not rebuilding. If those two blend with with youth, they could be competitive. Or they'll sell those two off to the highest bidder in season.

Beard isn't planning on reporting. Is he next?

    What's Miami's pivot?
