I agree that this is probably a sign that this upcoming season is the last one where he’s seriously thinking about contending

But I don’t necessarily think it’s going to be his last one. I can’t imagine Lebron wanting his last game to be in the Olympics instead of the NBA. Especially if there was a risk that USA doesn’t win gold, that would be a pretty embarrassing way to go out.

I could see him giving it his all to win a title this year, and then opt out next summer to join Bronny’s team (assuming his health is okay and he’s still on track to get drafted) for a “farewell tour” after the Olympics where he’s not really too concerned with competing

    he's definitely high.

i'm also a little dubious that lebron would be a huge difference maker given that we got beat due to lack of defense. now, if lebron does rally the rest of the troops, i could see us steamrolling folks. but i mean, lebron and damian lillard and kyrie...lithuania is still hitting those 9 threes against them.

Let’s bring old high mileage me first ball hog stars and expect them to be in top shape and play spirited defense?

    what could go wrong?

yeah, i'm actually not as down on the team we sent as most are. sure, it wasn't our very best, talent-wise, but it was young, energetic guys who wanted to play for the national team. they got outplayed by a small margin in a couple games. it happens. i know we won't do it, but if we sent largely the same team back to the olympics, we might see similar results to sending in the monstars again. continuity matters, as does familiarity with the international game.

I hate to agree with him but he is kinda right ! LeBron and rest of the gang ONLY want to play because it’s in Paris. LeBron kinda wants to make an excuse saying we will show Germany who’s the best in the world ! I highly doubt it LeBron would be saying the samething if the games were held in some third world country . I am not diss LeBron as a new guy, but the dude ONLY works for his own benefit.

and they are fun to root for.

The other guys? Maybe not so much. We're way past sending amateurs, but the older pros can only give so much. How you build the team and get the pieces to fit are more important, as well as continuity. No team in the NBA is winning with Wagner at center, sorry. It's just a different game in FIBA and international ball.

Get rid of some of the FIBA team and keep the best performers that play team ball. Get ANT to better buy into that. But definitely we need MOAR size down low. 3 Bigs. 5 fouls sucks. Bigs are still important in international competition, obviously. Along with fundamentals like setting proper screens and moving the ball around with not so much ISO .... and better defense. Caruso could have replaced BI and we would have been better. How about that fact? Where we get the 3 true and effective BIGs is another story.

The Lebron of high school scouting probably would project him as a #1 draft pick

Lebron can be load managed. We'll have to report minor injuries for AD if we wanna rest him though.
