Philippines basketball fans made history in Manila. 38,115 spectators packed the Philippine Arena, setting a new FIBA Basketball World Cup attendance record
The setting for this unprecedented feat was the Philippine national team's inaugural match in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, where they clashed against the Dominican Republic.

Mostly crashed because Towns, who plays for Dominican Republic... "dominicated" them.

France's "ballhandlers " couldn't deal with the defensive pressure , nothing new here .

Collet inexplicably sat De Colo to start the 3rd and Heurtel who has been a solid PG backup for years is banned from the national team cause he plays for a Russian club ...

Canada had a solid game plan

watching the game, i was struck by how easily opposing teams get penetration on us by simply connecting on screens. if team usa did this, they'd probably score every trip down, tbh. but we do a lot of iso (which works because we have the talent) or pick and rolls that don't involve the other three players. most of nz's high pick and rolls had at least one other guy moving and creating misdirection, etc.

it was kind of frustrating watching them get decent shots with basically zero talent on their roster. on defense, they were jumping our ball screens and forcing us to reverse--why didn't we do that? we have the better athletes.

need to improve to beat better teams.

reaves was good, as usual. and he was one of the guys that defended their pick and roll better, in that when he trailed he was looking for the pocket/drop off pass and either got his hands on it or deterred it a couple times.

on offense he was good, too, though at the end of his second stint, he pounded a little too much (which ingram does like, all the time).

i think it's weird that we're using brunson like a wing on offense, but he's done pretty well with it.

China Kyle Anderson, who goes by name Kaier LIh has 0 points taking 9 shots and -35. This is what I understand is called a naturalized guy.

Some crazy results at this World Cup.
Dennis scored 30 points and Germany beat Australia,Dominicana and KAT beat Italy, and Japan eliminated Finland and MVP candidate Markanen and finally,
Olympic silver medalist France eliminated by Latvia without Porzingiz..

    First Arenas ,now Barkley

    WTF ?
Charles Barkley: 'It would be great if Team USA didn't win the World Cup'

Former NBA star and now TNT analyst Charles Barkley said on Bill Simmons' podcast that it would be better for basketball if Team USA didn't win gold at the 2023 World Championship.

“They act like if we don't win the gold medal it will be the worst thing that has ever happened to civilization. I don't really agree. It will be great if we lose.

If someone else wins the gold medal, it will boost the popularity of basketball in one of those little third world countries. Imagine if France wins the gold medal. How popular basketball will become in France,” said Barkley.

    And France already eliminated
