Paul Pierce to continue my hijacking of the Reeves thread was also just a much better player then Richmond and Dumars. Shows the discrepancy in talent the SF position has traditionally produced
Spurs considered offering him $21m a year. Also if FVV didn't sign, Rockets might have thrown an offer out there.
("Poor") Austin .... man, and I know that is ridiculous with the amount of money he has at the least over the next 4 years. But for his value recognized around the league now he got screwed comparatively.
he's got a PO on that last year, so if he continues to be as good as we think he is, he really only lost money on that one year, and he can still make it back if he keeps improving. the deal is just outstanding for us, though, as it protects us against injury/plateauing. but no matter what, we were going to have him on a bargain for the next two years. if max busts out this year, i'm guessing the nba will call an emergency meeting to get rid of the arenas rule, as the lakers will have capitalized too much on it. only half joking.
Not following the one year only less than what he could have gotten from Spurs? Unless the assumption is only a 2 or 3 year deal at 21M and he opts out of course at the 4th year here to be paid sooner by us. Just would like more on how you're figuring?
max RFA deal (4/98) would have been matched by us, and still would have paid 12 per for the first couple years. that third and fourth year, he'd be getting like 35+ million each. i'm saying that if he plays really well, he's out the 23 million in year 3, but his next contract will start near that 35 and probably last all the way through his prime. so, yes, he probably lost some money, but not as much as it looks like at first glance, assuming he plays well. now, if he doesn't or gets hurt, he lost a ton of money by not getting the RFA offer.
Thank you P&G88 for that glorious 10 minutes! The way he plays the game and skills he has and plays he makes are incredible. Can’t wait for FIBA and watching how Kerr takes advantage of what he can do, and to see how well he shows out on this young, talented roster. Man, there is a lot of Lebron to AR and vice versa AR to Lebron plays in this highlight reel. What's odd is how few AR to AD highlights are in here (just one?) - that is something that the team needs to work on but AR/AD PnR should be something you should theoretically be a go to action for the Lakers. Is this a contributing factor to AD's inconsistency on offense is that he doesn't have the same chemistry as one of the best playmakers in the league as his teammates?
