guessing he means hanging double-clutch shots. the rest of it is just having huge hands and showmanship. i think mj was iconic because he always looked graceful, so he was even more fun to watch than other similarly talented players (admittedly, there have been few).

but like, kawhi leonard's midrange game at this point is probably even more effective than mj's was, but kawhi just isn't super fun to watch. also, he never plays.

but no, reaves doesn't do those exact things at all.

i'm sure it was intended as a joke, i was just commenting on the spirit of the joke--which was that the mj moves there aren't really things no one can do. they are things no one does do, perhaps in part because they'd be labeled as mj wannabes like kobe was. though again, the hands...not many guys have hands that huge. it's like he's got a nerf ball.

Still hate the “Jordan wannabe” label that some had placed on Kobe. Yes, he watched countless hours of tape and footage of Jordan. Yes, he perfected some of his mid post moves. Yes, he even adopted the harsh way in which he treated some of his team mates. His body type and skill set matched Jordan’s the most, so he chose his game as a template. Was he instead supposed to pattern his game after Larry Bird or Moses Malone?
MJ was the GOAT of his era and Kobe was the GOAT of his. Kobe also did things on the court that Jordan never did.

i think it was the mannerisms, etc. whatever. if the point of the tweet is that jordan had a uniquely graceful/powerful game, i agree. but the contention that nobody can do those things, in essense (e.g., switch hands in the air, hang all the across the lane and finish, etc.), is bs. the joker is right that even austin reaves can do all that stuff. it just doesn't look the same, nor does it come with everything else jordan had.

but there's not a like a single thing jordan did that many players in the current league can't do.

Are there really people who don't think Jordan wouldn't be a dominant MVP level player currently if he was in his prime? That seems like fake "people are saying" when in reality it's like one random poster on reddit with two posts making the claim.

Must be if there are some that think Shaq could be played off the floor in the current league from not being able to "adjust" to how the game is played now.

yeah, i don't think anyone is saying that anywhere. i think it's people suggesting that he might not be a tier above everyone else and his defenders getting up in arms.

Doubtful even on the “not a tier above” for both Jordan and Kobe …. especially with their mental mindset to win at all costs. I “think” both of them in their primes would have had the edge on bigger, unrivaled athletically at his size, LeBron by being deep in his head in a championship series, supporting casts roughly equal. He’d get his but not from the mentally tough aspect versus those two.

I don't know if a 40 year old Lebron can be the primary offensive option for a team that got to the WCF and despite the sweep performed well, I don't doubt prime Jordan would be considered the best player in the league. In his prime, he was adequate enough from 3 to keep defenses honest - really the only concern in his game for the modern NBA.

One weird thing about Jordan, he was a very different player post first retirement - not as explosive an athlete and went to that mid-range game that Kobe emulated. But that pre-retirement Jordan man don't think I've ever seen a guy like that outside Miami Lebron. Ja Morant explosion on a 6'6" frame who was also strong and center size hands. I hated the dude as Magic was always my favorite but that guy was a step above.

Very interesting that Reaves mentioned his agent had the Bucks as #1 on their list of best situations to target as UDFA. Said Lakers were on the top tier as well, but think they were #2 on that list

Super glad it did NOT go that way

Looks like Austin is confirming Houston and San Antonio made offers to Austin and he declined to come back to LA.
