    Cool, cool, cool.

Spurs got Bullock. And then if they help Dame, they’ll get Herro and Nurkic. After drafting Wemby.

    Yep, totally fair.

and it’s not that they’ll win the Title, but we all know that the Spurs are the Bama of the NBA, it’s only flashy for their fan base during the season and then the Postseason comes and all of a sudden they can beat the pants off everyone with ease.

Man if we get Christian wood for the minimum...that is about as successful of an off-season as you could have hoped for.

Sure, he's not a defensive stalwart, but offensively, the spacing we'd get from him? that's worth quite a bit and for the minimum? That's a damn good bargain!!!

i think it's reasonable for his production/role. i think both he and dillon brooks suffered from a bit of recency bias, in that both poked bears in embarrassing fashion. i don't think that can wash out what each did for their teams prior to the--again admittedly embarrassing--playoff incidents.

i like him for the mavs as a guy who slots in next to luka and guards the toughest opposing forward.

    we'll see.

Am I missing something with Christian Wood? Dude puts up good numbers on bad teams but there is a reason he's played on 7 teams in 8 seasons...

He's one of "those guys". Stats look good, but he doesn't play winning basketball. Still, he's carved out a decent career for someone who I believe was undrafted.

We could do a lot worse for the minimum, but ideally we get someone to protect the glass.

i've watched him a fair amount now, and even i can't quite figure why...but i mean...the evidence is in the fact that teams keep hurrying to move on from him despite the production. he definitely is a low-iq player on both ends, but he's really skilled and tall. i think every team is like "if he just buys in on defense" but too many teams don't understand that "buying in on defense" is a skill of its own. in another thread i was defending the mavs going after grant williams for the same reason. it's very telling that they'd move on from wood at the price they're paying for williams, right?

Might as well go ahead and pencil in Jaxson Hayes as a future 76er

Also, interesting that Pat Bev and Bamba will now be playing together after being traded for each other

Pre- Party in which every year Bill Cosby is invited to roofie the GMs who aren’t getting the winning ball?
I don’t know, but something is fishy- real fishy.

Can someone explain how this Cash Grab Tourney works? I completely have ignored the details every time it’s been brought up.

I second this, does the winning team get any seeding advantages or a extra draft pick?

I just don’t think we have very many options, and it’s difficult to pass on that level of talent for the minimum.

Do you pass on him to bring back Tristan Thompson or Wenyen Gabriel? I mean, I could see the argument for that. For our fully healthy team, Thompson’s size/experience and Gabriel’s hustle may very well be more conducive to winning basketball.

But I think Wood is the best AD insurance policy. I know he doesn’t play defense, but I don’t believe the notion of “empty stats”. Stats are inherently production. If AD is out, Wood still can consistently give you 20+ points and 10+ boards. You’d also be gambling that him having to settle for the minimum would be a rude awakening and force some improvement from him. That’s a gamble, but a low risk high reward one.

Currently my rankings for next backup C to sign would be:

    1. Bismack Biyombo
    2. Christian Wood
    3. Tristan Thompson
    4. Willy Hernangómez
    5. Wenyen Gabriel
    6. Omer Yurtseven
    7. Blake Griffin
    8. Dewayne Dedmon
    9. Boban Marjonovic
    10. Myers Leonard

Yeah maybe I'm leaning towards a more sure thing, better defending big with our last roster spot. I would have been okay with Wood in the Hayes spot (or Bamba there too)... but not two young, experimental bigs.

I was never that high on any of the center options so Wood is fine to me. I guess I prefer Biyombo but I won’t be upset if we go in another direction.
