    Christie.

Max seemed confident and showed some game but the team was trash.

JHS showed some flashes, scored all points on the paint. A nice chase down block, he can jump.
Has absolutely no shooting, I can hardly see him seeing the floor with that shot

Lewis impressed me less. Nothing off the mark.

Castleton looked interesting, can dribble off the rebound and has some touch around the basket.

Hodge looks like Nunn physically. Quick guy but a bit too short. Has to be really good in other things to cover that.
Swider sucks. He's really bad, does nothing well outside shooting.
For some reason we played a few random guys more than Lewis, Castleton and Hodge.

Outside Max, don't see anyone cracking our rotation. But there's some flashes of what each one of the above can turn out, they have time to develop all year and we do it well.

Jaquez and Robinson from Miami looked good

JHS has to improve that shot, but I like the rest of his game. Castleton played well but bothered by some foul trouble. Lewis looked pretty good. I like Hodge a lot. Max was really good. The randos were bad.

It’s probably Ham with a walkie-talkie hiding behind a somewhere with the way the lineups went. Garbage players starting and getting all the minutes while some of the guys we actually drafted like Lewis played 4 first half minutes. I’ve seen enough of Swider, Figueroa, Baugh, and #31 to last a lifetime.

Jaquez or JHS? I like JHS a lot aside from not knocking them down, but damn … yeah, and he was taken at 18. Don’t know his height as I type this. His entire family are ballers. Nice athlete.

Christie looked impressive as he should being in his 2nd year, but just basing on his skill level, he should be in the rotation for sure.

I was also impress with JHS, he had a terrible day shooting, but not much a concern right now, he missed a lot of wide open shots. He will not be a speedster like Schoder, Irving smoking you with the 1st step, but he has more of a herky jerky type movement, lure you to sleep, stop and go like a Ginobli and Reaves. He seems to be composed handling the ball, with vision of the court.

He looks like an unrefined Brandon Roy but without the elite explosiveness. Needs to hit those open shots…

The two rookies are most likely on the 1 year development plan, that we used with Max. There isn't a pressing need, for either of them to be rushed into the lineup. They both have veteran young guys ahead of them.

Max proving we messed up not using him more last season. Hopefully we start figuring out that rookies now are not like rookies of the past. Ham is talking good but did that last off season as well. If the youngs guy earn time give it to them. If they don't then they warm the bench but don't sit them just bc there rooks. I hate that antiquated thinking.

Lol OMG stop with that story. Nobody messed up. He played +20 games when we were 13th. When he stopped playing we went 7th

He's ok and might crack the rotation but has to earn it. He's no MJ we are holding back

To be fair, he was not this player last season, and I think his development has been handled very well. Remember him last summer league? He showed some potential defensively for sure, and he could get to the hoop some, but he couldn’t hit a damn shot, everything was short. He clearly has been working hard on the shot and adding some muscle. He also played a lot in the G-League and I think that has paid off big time, so much better for players to get some run down there rather than just sit on a teams’ bench and watch and learn, but luckily these days they can do both. I think by the end of last season he started to show poise, that improved shot, and some very solid defense, but it was also a lot in garbage time.

He still has a ways to go, but I think they’ve played it perfectly, rather than throwing him out in situations he wasn’t ready for and watching him struggle or fail, he’s been allowed to come along at his own pace. I think he likely earns time this season, but I also think he wasn’t ready for much more time than he got last season. He looks super solid and night and day from last year in summer league, but the NBA is another level up, the next step is seeing what he can do with consistent minutes there.

I’d say the same thing for the other rookies, I don’t see them getting much time this season, they’ll probably play a lot in the G-League, DLo and Vincent are on a different level than JHS right now for example. Some rookies are more ready, but these new ones are 19-20, 1 and 2 year college players, not 4 years and probably more ready now like Reaves was, or like we saw from Jaquez Jr today. Every rookie case is different though, some 1 year college players are stars ready to play now, some 4 or 5 year guys just aren’t good enough. I guess my point is overall I’m pretty happy with how we’ve brought our rookies along the past handful of years, sometimes they’re ready relatively quickly like Reaves, and sometimes we got ahead of ourselves like with THT. Time will tell with Max too, but like I said I think he’s been brought along correctly so far, when he’s ready for time or better than the guy ahead of him he’ll likely get a shot.

just watching jhs's highlights, the threes he missed were mostly off the dribble--shots he won't/shouldn't be taking. someone said he lacked burst, but i thought he looked quite quick on several of those drives, just left his guy in the dust (he also got torched once that i saw on the other end, which is less good).

he's got a long way to go with his shot, but i like his ball control and saw some glimpses of good spatial awareness. he's going to be a project. luckily, we don't really need him to be ready this year.

christie looks similar to me; i'm not sure he should even be out there, tbh. the kinds of things he needs to do right now for us aren't really available in the sl setting, imo. he looked like he didn't belong there, which is good.

would like to see some footage on lewis, castleton, and hodge.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. taken at 18 vs JHS taken at 17. Guard also, even taller at 6'7" and 225lb. Superior athlete. 22 years old. Any thoughts on why we didn't take him? He looked pretty impressive. Didn't watch UCLA last year. Didn't know he came from a whole family of ballers.

i think the superior athlete part is questionable? and jacquez got the age demerit that makes no sense. i saw lots of folks saying they thought he'd be good right out of the box.

he was right in the lakers' backyard for years, so i doubt they just slept on him.

really, each of the 5-6 picks right after ours interested me quite a bit, and jhs seemed an odd choice to me because if you wanted upside, whitmore, whitehead, and clowney were there, and if you wanted quicker impact, jacquez, podziemski, murray, and OMP were there. lakers seemed to want to split the difference?

i don't know; the scouts have earned the benefit of the doubt and more.
