Same. I REALLY didn’t want to be forced to root for Paul.

I have a feeling Poole is probably pretty happy about how things turned out.

Leveraged his initial success on a championship team, where he coasted off the attention his hall of fame teammates were getting, into a massive payday.

Now he gets away from the teammates he was butting heads with. Gets to keep his money and have the green light on a tanking team with zero expectations.

I suspect the Poole deal is more Golden State being afraid of the 2nd luxury tax apron next year.

they are trying to get under that because the tax is brutal and it badly limits a team in terms of player movement

i was actually one of the few hoping we could get him to back up russell. basically the same theory gs is operating on, but for the vet min.

on the bright side, most fans agree with you, so maybe gs will be more hatable than us!

    yeah, he's won!

Strategically-wise, it makes sense. Many of us have just had our fill these past few seasons of having to force ourselves to root for characters we really can’t stand.
I love it that the Dubs wasted assets on a guy who will be in street clothes for them come the playoffs. So far, this summer has started off on a positive note.

GS acquiring paul signals the end for their time as title contenders. who is he going to set up there? looney and draymond? not to mention he's bound to miss extended time with injury at some point. i know GS was set on getting out of the poole contract, but paul is the last guy i would have guessed they'd go after

poole goes from promising young star to a cap dump within a year lmao

I think people are under-estimating those pick swaps: if I had to peak that will just implode it would be the Suns in 2-3 years
No picks, no depth, second apron limiting any FA signings. Durant is going to be ancient and Beal well into his 30s by 26 and 28

Those Suns pick swaps after 2026 could end up being juicy. Trade looks a lot less lopsided now, damn this could get really ugly for the Suns if they don’t win it all in the next two years.

Poole averaged 17pts during the Warriors title on 51/39/91 splits .

He played 82 games and averaged 20 this season in a down year .

Green who punched him and doesn't even look at the rim still will be a Warrior.

    Warriors are a joke imo

The situation was unmanageable, and it was easier to send out Poole than to patch things up. They obviously value Green more right now during their rapidly closing window than Poole who just laid an egg in the playoffs.
