Agreed. If we're talking trades with Washington, Porzingis is the guy I want. Beasley + Bamba is enough salary under the current CBA I think, add #17 and I think that could get it done.

It sounds kind of insane, but I think there's a chance he wants to sign here for the MLE. We decline Beasley and Bamba, make the pick at #17, sign Draymond to the MLE for like 3 years and bring back DLO. I'm not saying I want to do this, but I think he might just want out of GSW at this point. Maybe he thinks their run is just over so might as well come to LA with LeBron for a couple of years.

DLo / Dennis (or BAE backup PG)
Reaves / Christie / #17 (not saying its going to be a SG, just putting it somewhere
    LeBron / Vanderbilt
    Green / Hachimura
    AD

If LeBron still can't make a three next season that's a LOT of non-shooters in our frontcourt. I don't think I want to do this and would rather go Naz Reid or Christian Wood if we're using the MLE on another big, but I do think this is a possibility. There's no way Draymond is getting more APY on the open market than the $27 million PO he just declined, maybe Houston if they don't sign Harden.

We’re in a global recession and guys are opting out of great contracts. That’s a calculated risk for sure, and I hope it works out for the players like Green and Kuz. I’m sure they have talk to their agents and have a pulse on what the market is.

sure, but if it's an entirely unlikely scenario, then that means it basically doesn't work, right?

obviously if you have the league's three best players, and all of them are healthy and in their prime, the supporting cast matter less. nobody is close to that situation right now in the nba. closest in memory was the heat (three top 15 players, all in prime and never injured). and the cba was different even then.

good list. both eubanks and kbd have shown some flashes when i've watched.

i think lyles has already been reclaimed, though, right?

i always like hernangomez as a backup big, but he's another that i think has played his way out of vet min territory.

um...yes. again, the clippers have a zillion dollars and expendable bodies at the end of their bench to do stuff like this. we don't.

good news is if they have both paul and westbrook, they can become one of the least likeable squads in the league.

because this is his last chance at a payday and he risks injury by playing out the year. as the later tweets said, he's probably seeking s&ts (as is gs) or just another deal with gs.

i just don't see how gs squares their salaries if they re-up him. he's not going to want to take much of a cut. feel like this is a s&t brewing.

Just give it up Dame, you're like a concussed boxer going out for another round. Move on dude, no one will judge you.

As for Green, I imagine he resigns with GS for the MLE at numerous years. It's probably more valuable for him to continue playing with Steph now, for his post career success, than leaving now.

    i'll play devil's advocate:

they have simons, who's a solid starting guard. they have jerami grant's bird rights, so they should be able to re-sign him if they want.

after that, they've got the #3 overall pick and shaedon sharpe, each of which should have some serious value on the trade market. i feel like you should be able to get at least a borderline allstar type for each (in theory).

so it's possible portland makes a couple deals and puts a team together that, on paper is firmly a playoff team in the west.

if that doesn't happen on draft night, though, i think dame's out.

no, but he's out there enough that it feels like it! i just think there's a LOT of pride there, and even a 4-year mle tops out at 52 million. you don't punt 1 year 28 million for that, imo. even if he got hurt and had a terrible year, he could STILL nab a full mle somewhere next year, imo.

"Wants to remain in Portland" and "will be in Portland next season" are different things. Dame has been playing the PR game for years now, if he was going to get traded he'd definitely want the message to be that he never wanted to leave Portland but they forced his hand by not trading #3/more draft picks to win now.

Haynes mentioning that the Heat essentially took themselves out of the Beal sweepstakes because they really think Dame will be available was very weird to me. I don't think he would have done that unless Miami really thinks that, and I don't think Miami really thinks that unless they have good reason to.

At this point in time, I like Rui over Kuzma. I totally believe this is just a ploy by Kuz’s camp to garner more hits and interest. Rui’s younger, has shown a higher ceiling on D, is cheaper, and is no more inconsistent that Kyle on offense. Only way I see a super narrow path to Kuz is if the Wiz somehow really want DLo. Even then, that’s a lot of money tied up to fill the forward spots where LeBron and Rui already cover.

Since one of his closest friends plays for us, he will be a Laker, unless of course, Ballmer trades for him.
