Why would Harden and Durant work this time switching Kyrie for Booker and having less depth?

I thought KD called out Harden for being fat when they were in Brooklyn. Whoever signs Harden to big money this offseason is in for a big scam.

Per Mikey's request. They got to find a way to stay in the news cycle.

Keeping cheap talent developing in the wings is smart when you have to start paying pieces of your championship puzzle. Good foresight.

is nichols being cheeky there? unintentionally?

anyway, i think harden got a taste of what being a secondary player on a winning team was like, and...hard pass. he'd rather be the engine of a non-contender. hell, he didn't even like playing with paul during the only years houston was an actual threat because a) he couldn't get all the credit and b) he couldn't just dominate the ball on every possession.

I mean, Harden as the man had waaay more success in Houston than he did playing 2nd fiddle to Embiid. I wouldn't exactly call them a winner, they're stuck getting beat in the 2nd round. Harden was a game away from beating the KD warriors to get to the finals. Of course this is a much different Houston team..

I think with James he just likes the lifestyle in Houston. He might feel that Philly ain't going anywhere anyways so why not?

    Running through today's pods...

Haynes said he's sticking to his initial story. Suns called him before anyone else had it and he had the chance to amend it. They said they're still shopping him, but waiving him is the most likely outcome. Haynes held tight because he trusts his sources. Stein thinks Lakers makes the most sense if/ when he is cut loose. Stein thinks if they cut him, it's unlikely he's back because he'd feel unwanted.

On Anthony Irwin's episode with Aaron Larsuel, Aaron said the league didn't expect this. Everyone thought they'd shop CP3 but would bring him back and guarantee his money if they couldn't move him. Noted that Chris is prickly, so if they cut him it wouldn't be unlikely for him to say f*** you and go elsewhere.

Harden is a bum, over rated and one of the worst floppers in NBA history. Why is he talked about so much here?
He’s not winning anything. He’s not the “missing piece” for any team with Championship aspirations.

not sure i agree. i felt like the non-cp houston teams weren't for real. and the cp houston teams were cp teams, imo. which is why they folded when he got hurt. 5 years later with harden not being as good, i just can't imagine that featuring him is going to lead to winning more than having him play a support role in philly did.

he was never a real franchise player, imo, and he certainly isn't one now.

I don’t think I’ve read this tidbit below anywhere.

Starting with 2024-25, teams over the first apron won't be able to use traded player exceptions, which are like trade gift cards that last a calendar year. For instance, the Portland Trail Blazers traded CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans, generating a trade exception they used the following summer to acquire Jerami Grant from the Detroit Pistons.

That possibility goes away for the Hawks and others over the first apron after this coming season.

    On CP3
    ...
SA? Don't see that one. I don't think he and the Clipps are on the best of terms either.

paul to SA makes a ton of basketball sense to me, tbh. i just think he doesn't want to live there. i suppose he could view it as temporary and the fam could stay put, but you know he's watching lebron get to live in la with his family and play for a competitive team.

i think paul wants to be with one of the la teams or to stay in phx.

interesting to hear lillard say he wants to play in miami or bkn due to relationships with bam and bridges. just shows how valuable these things can be. how many big time players have relocated just to basically be with friends?

it's another factor (along with gm/agent relations) that flies under the radar a lot but determines some very important outcomes.

    Here's the Lakers morsels...

    On the Kyrie front
    DLO for CP3 an option?
    CP3's potential free agency
