Only for the minimum. I REALLY don’t want him but because of LeBron, it’s a done deal.

With the Lakers being cap conscious and preferring to avoid the luxury tax (due to being repeaters), I think this becomes a real possible Lakers option:

    - sign CP3 and Schroder for a combined $20 mil, resign Reaves, Rui, and Lonnie.
    - D’Lo walks because Lakers will no longer have a need to pay him $20 mil+. CP3 and Schroder will split time at the 1 to try to load manage CP3.
    - Lakers could still try to trade Bamba and Beasley to shed salary in a dump. I would go as far to revisit packaging those two + 17 pick for Myles Turner.

This would allow for alot of depth to load manage Lebron/CP3/AD. The Lakers will also be a team that appeals to title chasers again as well:

    CP3/Schroder/minimum player
    Reaves/Walker/Christie/
    Lebron/Rui
    AD/Vando/Gabriel
    Turner/Dwight

I would like to see one more big body for depth insurance and would go as far as bringing Dwight Howard back to fill that need.

The roster construction would look pretty good although I will admit the Myles Turner thing is probably pipe, but the idea is to flip Beasley/Bamba for an upgrade

Sounds like Haynes may have jumped the gun.

I still think the suns waiving CP3 and moving on is the most likely outcome, but seems like it’s not set in stone yet

Haynes is close with CP3, so that's likely his sourcing. I forget what it was exactly, but he ran something mentioning CP this past year or two and called CP up to clear it with him first. So they're definitely friendly.

And I'm guessing Shams sourcing is the Suns FO. Still trying to keep their options open, hoping to milk an asset out of CP.

    Woj chimes in too

    So……I don’t HATE the idea.

    1) I feel like he owes us

    2) I FEEL like he OWES Kobe

but really, I’d go for CP IF we kept DLo or traded for a more skilled PG like Hield or something.

CP could start but we’d need like Dennis and others to really back him up. The second he isn’t lighting up the night, pull him for the night and go with someone else, you know?

Yeah I’m in the same boat with this thinking. I don’t hate it if he comes for MLE type money. He could still play but needs to be load managed so he can make an impact during the playoffs.

Depth would need to be the priority this off-season if we go this route because Lebron/AD/CP3 all really need to be load managed.

I don’t see Hield as a point guard either btw.

I just don’t know how you justify FVV for DLo if you get Paul. Paul wouldn’t start behind him. So you need Dennis and someone else that is a set up from Dennis (borderline starter) for DLo and then get Paul.

maybe Hield isn’t that guy, but he seems like a better option. Plus if you could revisit the Turner/Hield deal around DLo, that’d be nice

Paul HAS to be a better option than Kyrie, right? And would make LeBron just as happy?

Yeah, even Woj’s reporting is suggesting the waive is the most likely outcome and that CP3’s camp wants them to make up their mind

Maybe CP3 leaked it to Haynes to sabotage any potential trade where he wouldn’t have control. Make it known that if a trade isn’t found the Suns will waive him, so that other teams know there is no reason to offer anything of value for him in a trade

Definitely, I always thought Turner would be such a great fit next to AD. It’s so discouraging that the pacers hate us lol.
