    In a scenario where we’re not able to resign Dennis, I wouldn’t hate him as a backup guard behind DLo and Reaves. Wouldn’t be my first choice though.

    He’s not coming for the minimum if so, which means we’d waste the MLE at least on him. I just don’t want it, he doesn’t fill a need other than someone to take the ball out of LeBron’s hands so much.

    If we’re getting priced out of retaining Dennis, I wouldn’t mind CP3 for the TPMLE or minimum in that role. Obviously he’s nowhere near the defender, but I think there is legitimate value in having someone who can set the table like that off the bench.

    If the idea is to use CP3 as a way to replace DLo and that CP3 would be our starting PG… yeah, that’s not going to work. Simply can’t rely on him to stay healthy enough for that type of role.

    I could MAYBE see it if he was just nominally the starting PG, but really just another member of the group. Like if we let DLo walk, did the Beasley for Hield trade, brought back Dennis and signed CP3. That’s a lot of ifs though.

    Yeah I could see him being the “nominal” starter, but I don’t think we could retain Dennis and sign CP3 as both of them likely demand at least the TPMLE

    Cap wise think retaining DLo and signing CP3 would be more realistic, but I don’t see DLo being on board with being a bench player even if he’d still get a lot of playing time

    Chris Paul is THIRTY EIGHT years old. I’m not signing him to anything but the minimum as a backup, sorry. Too injury prone, too old, I’m signing Dennis back before going after Paul.
