Feels like the guys they get they have to overpay for, which is something when Florida isn't taxing them.

When you've got to claim DJ Augustin as a top 5 signing in your franchise's history...

I think they're more frequently on this stinkers list

they not count grant hill because of the injuries? because that was a HUGE get at the time. nobody knew his career was already basically over!

anyway, it's an interesting topic. i think people will find that FA signings are largely unimpressive, and that trades and the draft are where like, 90% of the big moves come.

in other words, outside of miami and the lakers, how many teams boast star-studded lists of FA signings? i'd put grant hill and tmac up there, right?

We “need” to get value out of that 20-25M slot so it is imperative we have a good value signing with him as an asset. And he meshed really well with Reaves for whatever length of time he’s here unless it’s a sign and trade.

But I doubt you are wanting to just let him walk?

of course I don't want to lose him for nothing, personally i think this is his ceiling he doesn't have the intangibles of say a Dfish who while skill wise doesn't compare to dlo you knew he was good at being that clutch guy who also did all the little things to help us win

    You gotta love the offseason!!

I heard that the Lakers are trading DLO to the Spurs for Wemby and three first round draft picks. That's gonna happen, I heard it from an insider reliable source!!!

To be clear I don’t want to do this, but what does the roster build look like if we did do a DLo sign and trade for Kyrie, presumably including a draft pick?

    Kyrie
    Reaves
    Vando
    LeBron
    AD

    Christie
    minimums

    Is that right?

dallas is going to sign kyrie to something near his max; maybe shorter-term or with a team option at the end.

    we're going to sign russell.

and if things aren't going great in december in one place or the other, kyrie's coming here, imo.

If things stay the way they are, we'll build cohesiveness and be fine. Dallas will be sketchy given their current lack of depth.

right. it's a huge summer for them. if they don't pull a rabbit out of a hat, we might get kyrie for not much more than russell. though i'd still be concerned about it because the salary difference would require us adding a useful player to get it done (unless we just store beasley and bamba for this purpose, which i don't think jeanie & company can stomach/afford).

This is never gonna end. Either he’s going to be traded here eventually or we will be hearing this crap until LeBron leaves or retires. I just hope the FO can hold out until then and doesn’t go this route, they should have fully learned their lesson from the Westbrook debacle. 2 stars and depth, that’s the formula, Luka and Kyrie couldn’t even make the play-in, Bron, AD, Kyrie and minimums aren’t getting us there either.

Trae Young makes 40 mil next season, then 43, 45, and 48. Not happening. A franchise like Atlanta has to pay that to keep a star, we don’t have to do that for a player that only plays one side of the ball. If we want to do that we can pay half the price for DLo.
