    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...ee-new-7-year-collective-bargaining-agreement

Doesn't really sound all that one sided to me. That upcoming change adding licensing agreements to the BRI is interesting .

Another thing here..the new CBA takes away this prohibition of having 3 max contracts too. The hype is on this 2nd tax apron, but I don't see how it's somehow impossible, to have 3 max guys and win.

Take 3 guys at 40 million apiece, that still leaves 50 plus to fill out the rest of the roster. The Miami Heat are playing 4 guys right now, that make less than 7 million dollars combined. It depends on the players involved, but it damn sure could be done. Another interesting question is, moving forward, will teams still be willing to pay guys 35 and older, 50 million plus a year, for multiple years?

If we are paying a guy 30 million dollars, we are definitely in the 3 star model. Less than 10 percent of NBA players make that kind of money. It's not just 3 max players

We won’t be. That deal came as a placeholder move that brought in Wiggins. Not because DLO was worth it, though apparently he convinced himself he was once he was making it.

Yeah but we just got swept by a team paying 3 guys at least 30 million dollars too. Both teams in the Finals are doing it. D'Angelo may not be worth that, but it's not some kind of proven idea, that it isn't a Championship winning roster strategy either.

I'd take Ben Simmons for D'Angelo straight up.

    Man, that's insane.

We were the BEST team post trade deadline (aka after Dlo came) and you want to trade him for a guy who CAN'T play and is basically out of the league. Not to mention that if he did play, he would fit terrible with LeBron. He needs the ball in his hands and shoots worse than Vando.

It pains me to read Lakers fans wanting big overhauls this postseason.
What we did post trade deadline is insane. We were the 24th team in the standings in February and finished in the top 4 in the year. This wasn't supposed to happen. Probably never happened. Without practicing. Playing "win or go home - game 7 like" games in March!
And guys just want the next thing because Dlo sucked in a series matchup.
We have to run it back as much as possible. That's it. If a good trade comes, let's try it. But the main focus is to run it back, it has to be.

Even more unbelievable is to trade Dlo for another guy who craps the bed in postseason. I'm honestly shocked with your take man

Man the MIami Heat are 1-1 in the Finals, as the 8th seed. Isn't that historic? We went 8-5 without Lebron bro, that's not some incredible jump from our winning percentage after the 2-10 start. What major overhaul are you talking about? I'm talking about swapping 1 player for another, that's not some "major" overhaul.

Russell needs the ball in his hands too doesn't he? The difference is that Simmons can impact a game without scoring a point, D'Angelo is useless if he doesn't score. We would running it back as much as possible, with a superior(elite level) defender on the perimeter to boot. That is a game changer, Simmons could avg the same 6pts D'Angelo did against Denver, and we'd still win that series. Because he's capable of guarding everyone from Murray to Jokic on the perimeter effectively, while AD provides the paint coverage. There is more than one way to win in the NBA, it's not always about shooting.

This stuff about Simmons being on his way out the league. Meh, if he's playing in the World Cup, he's not injured. Harden, KD, and Kyrie didn't want to play in Brooklyn either. I'm not going to crucify Simmons for following suit, maybe it's Brooklyn.

This Simmons vs D'Angelo playoffs stuff is also false too. Looking at the actual numbers, Simmons is clearly the superior player, AND he is elite as a defender.

So NO..I'm not getting what you are saying at all. I don't think the kid's career is over, he's 26 years old. I Think that he can benefit from a fresh start in LA. We are known for resurrection of careers too you know? I like Vanderbilt but you continue to harp about how we can't play him. We couldn't play Malik either, and you saw how D'Angelo finished. That trade wasn't the slam dunk it was made out to be, as far as improving our Championship aspirations. I really don't care about some regular season "success ". That's not our goal.

    all this.

    basically none of this.

also, 45+30+30 = 105. 50+45+45 = 140. the second model means no aaron gordon nor kcp. and Ls galore.

    more math: 2-10 is a 14-win pace. 8-5 (missing your second-best, highest-paid player) is a 51-win pace. yeah, that's freaking huge.

What exactly are you referring to in that 1st part? Kcp Gordon,???

We started 2-10, we didn't play at a 14 win pace after that. I'm not sure why you brought up the 2-10 after I specifically posted after the 2-10 start. Did that 55 win pace mean anything in the Playoffs? We got to the Conference Finals as a 7th seed, Miami is in the Finals as the 8th. Like I said...whoopee damn doo about the regular season record.

I don't think that trade was the only one that could have worked either. We could traded for Kyrie and been in the Finals right now. We could have traded for other players and have it work out the same. AD elevated his game, Austin and Rui could have meshed with someone else too.
At the end of the day..the guys that showed up against Denver, were already on the team before Westbrook got traded. So NO, Moving forward, I don't think that trade enhanced our Championship aspirations at all.

talk about cherry picking...miami's the second 8 seed to ever make the finals, and i don't know the exact number of 7/8s in the conference finals, but i'm guessing it's also a tiny percentage. also, the regular season matters to me because i watch laker games, and i felt like gouging my eyes out for the past two years until the trade deadline. only one team wins a title, but watching horrific basketball for a full season is a nightmare i like to avoid.

no, a kyrie trade wouldn't have us in the finals. more likely, like dallas, we'd have missed the play-in.

moving forward, we both dodged the kyrie bullet that several teams have taken square to the dome, and we didn't trade away our future in the process. just huge wins all around. kyrie got to come watch us play in the conference finals because he'd been at home for weeks.

History is made brother. It's not all about "Hey..this is how its has to be, because this is what happened before." This Playoffs just lays bare, what everyone already knows..If your stars are ready to go, and you have some good health teamwise, you can win in the Playoffs. It's real easy to point to a team that failed, that had injury issues. That wasn't the case for the Lakers and Heat.

The Lakers have AD, Lebron, not just Luka. We also had Austin and Rui..no way in hell,we would miss the play-in game. That's just hating on Kyrie dude, and that's personal, because it's definitely not about the talent. We have more talent than Dallas.

I keep talking about Kyrie when he was in Brooklyn Abeer. IE Kyrie for Westbrook. I've already said that it's practically impossible now. It's just conversational what ifs at this point. I do believe that we can trade D'Angelo and do better this summer. Yet I can't see anyway that's going to be Kyrie Irving.

well, it was basically impossible then because it was clear the nets owner didn't want to oblige him. word was they asked for reaves at that point, iirc.

i just don't get the wistful interest in a guy who's been so unsuccessful for so long. hell, this lebron trade rumor crap is all because a third team isn't interested in meeting his contract demands despite his obvious talent. there's just a mountain of evidence that he's not worth the hassle.

this team has 10 free agents there is going to be overhaul regardless.dlo,Beasly and Mo are not worth what they are getting paid.IMO they should be dropped unless they want to resign for significantly less. There are FA out there that are much better for the same price.

And D'Angelo will be on his way somewhere else soon too IMO. Vanderbilt is the only one I'd keep. He's young, useful, and cheap. Nice trio of attributes for a role player.

Not necessarily disagreeing, but there is something to be said for continuity and keeping a group together that plays well and likes each other. (See Denver) There are areas we could upgrade for sure like any team, but I'm unsold on what those options are. At this point, I feel like Rob Pelinka has this under control and won't be giving way to the whims of superstars any longer. He seems to know how to build a team and give himself flexibility and options.

I think it's rather exciting actually..we have a core of 5, that stood tall during the playoffs until the end. We need to find at least 5 more dependable pieces. Some of them won't play a lot in the playoffs, but I'd like to at least have an 8 deep playoff rotation. We have two draft picks, and some tradable assets. Max is like a pregroomed Rokie waiting on deck, this offseason is going to be fun.

We clearly disagree. Only thing I say to you is that you think too individual. Like swap Ben for Dlo, get the same pts and win the series because Ben defends more.
Basketball is a team game, you switch Ben for Dlo and the whole offense is completely different (for much worse imo), so your narrative is flawed there.

It doesn't make sense to disrupt something that worked INCREDIBLY well the past few months for a gamble on Ben, who has so many issues (on and off court). It really doesn't

According to this post, we cant use the 12.2 million NTMLE without being hard capped? If that is correct, then I think it increases the likely hood that Dlo will be resigned.
