Rui is one of the players cited in the article, that Kornet used it against earlier in the season.

Not sure it is effective..no more so than a guy just missing the shot. In Rui's case, last night, is the only time I've seen some one actually miss, when he did that.

In the small sample size at the time of the article and video, players were only shooting 25% on wide open 3's.

Yeah and that small sample size could just be the guy missed. Again for Rui specifically here..I've only seen 1 guy miss that shot. Last night.

agree. they have two big wings who use their size to score but aren't especially quick. rui can play defensively against them, and offensively he changes the geometry.

    let's get there first!

    A little bump for Rui.
Was clearly not his series but we didn't hear a complaint at all. The few mins he got to play he played well, scored easily (didn't force things) and got some nice blocks too. We're gonna need him next round against Gordon and MPJ... hell see what he can do against Jokic, he did stop KAT once upon a time.

I think he's going to be huge this series against those wings and a key to winning the series. This is his payday series. He has the bulk to battle Gordon and MPJ better than Vando.

Rui could benefit a lot tagging along LeBron for a summer workout

I think he's got the ceiling to be a really good scorer and defender.

And he can get hot from 3 as well

I think I would start Rui vs Denver to start at the SF spot. He doesn't really have to chase Gordon/Porter like Klay or Bane.
His size matches up very well against both MPJ and Gordon as well as switching on Jokic.

It will also help the Lakers both to stretch the floor on offense and headhunt either Jokic or Murray.

I think we'll end up having to start Rui or DS because I do think there will be stretches where they let Joker guard Vando for a few plays here and there to get him a rest on defense. Can't have that. I think that's a counter move though for a game 2 or 3.

Hachimura pitches in on defense and gets at least one block a game. Good two-way player.

    STARTER

Walking bucket and can handle Joker's physicality, allowing AD to wait at the rim? That's the series changer.

    "Lebronshame"

Bad on Ham for starting Schroeder: worst possible situation as Denver has way too much height. Rui changed the game when he was in. Sigh this was a big mistake just gave them game 1 basically.

Agreed. Great game and we found something putting him on Jokic.

Well, I love Rui's game and I've been vocal about it. A lot of posters here were preaching patience with him after the GS series noting this one would be a much better matchup for him. Great to see him play excellent D on Jokic. More of that please. And let's start him!

Like I said he is going to be critical in this series. Rui for DLo or Schroeder?

    Rui on Jokic
    AD on Gordon
    Lebron on MPJ
    Reaves on Murray

Yep, many of us called it here. Key to this matchup is Rui holding his own on Jokic and freeing AD
