I thought we would lose this game but not look like a total s*** show. Bron played 28 minutes and AD 33. They sure don’t have the “their tired excuse” for game 3.
If they are hitting 20+ threes with 40-45% shooting percentage every game, we are not going to win this series.
came here to say this. do whatever you want strategically, what are teams' records when they make 20+ threes on 40%+ shooting from there? gotta be 95%+. that we won the first game in a similar scenario was shocking, tbh. it means we beat them in every other way possible. in game 2, they shot 50% and made 21 threes. nobody will beat them if they do that. nobody.
I know many of you called this as a letdown game, but something else strikes me about this team. On any given night, so many different guys can lay an egg. Davis, Russell, Schroeder, Reaves, Vanderbilt - basically the whole starting five outside of James (who will still give counting stats on a bad night). I guess when your starters combine for 3 FTA, that's a problem, too.
Kind of annoyed with simplistic frames like defense wins championships that are being thrown around with this game. Hedging killed the Lakers in teh 3rd quarter - which was stupid on the coaching staff and could fit into this clich but the problem in the second was the Lakers couldn't score. Some of that was GS but also the Lakers missed a ton of open 3's (really wish Beasley was playable) which led to transition buckets. Defense couldn't even get set. Second quarter was a bunch of makeable shots by Reaves and AD - they didn't hit and led to GS getting into a groove.
Not saying there’s not some truth in this as after all Ty Lue was bragging about doing the same last year. But here’s somewhat of a different take that suggests he wasn’t “that” bad.
The jump ball was BS. Not only did Ham call for a TO, Wiggins was OUT OF BOUNDS! How is that a jump ball FFS? Lakers ball, game over. f***ing ref crew trying to extend the series.
Just looked at that play, Curry tied him up, not Wiggins. Did Wiggins jump against him? If he did, then you are absolutely correct. That could NOT have been the case because he was definitely out of bounds, both feet, not close. One other comment, that final play where Curry threw the ball away???? He had to take the risk. He would have been in jump ball against AD, which he would have lost and lost the short time left on the clock. The absolutely ONLY chance they had was if he tossed the ball and prayed one of his guys was there to catch and shoot. They weren't and they didn't but honestly, it was not a dumb play, it was a very smart play, it just didn't work out. Too bad for him!!!
That call was terrible on so many levels. Nobody on the Warriors ever even had a handle on the ball for more than a split second
I thought the jumpball call was quick. Klay didn't have his hands on the ball cleanly which you can see when the whistle was blown. The ref that called the jump ball did make the "right" call because all he is watching is for a clean grab or a foul or for AD in that moment to call TO. The other officials should of granted the Lakers their Timeout as it was being called for before the jumpball whistle was blown. That should of been reviewable by the officials like the NFL has automatic "booth reviews" in the finally 2 minutes of games. They need to get those calls right, period.
i complained about that in the game thread. 1. it wasn't ever held by two opposing players for any length of time 2. we called a timeout (people other than the guy with the ball can call a timeout; this isn't 8 years ago) 3. even if it was a jump ball (it wasn't), wiggins shouldn't have been jumping because a) he didn't tie him up and b) he was out of bounds if gs got that and hit a shot and went on to win the game, it would have been a disaster for the league, imo. that's a playoff game decided on several simultaneous bad calls. it was sort of unbelievable.
that stretch where GSW lead got to double digits, seemed like our guys gut sucked into playing like gsw and just shot from perimiter
And yet Kerr is complaining vociferously about the refs favoring the Lakers. I expect next game in the Bay area to be extra slanted in GSW's favor. So, I am making a preemptive complaint.
Umm that last call is a huge deal: 3 point game and possession means the game is essentially over baring a miracle
that's what i was saying above--it was actually a HUGE missed call. and it wasn't missed. it was intentionally botched to create drama. game was over. and yeah, the only way they can stop AD is to foul him, which they did last game, on and off the ball. i expect more of that until we can knock them out. hopefully, we have a great shooting night in one of the next two games and can just overcome what's going to happen regarding officiating in the paint.
