I really want to thank everyone for all your thoughtful responses, time, and really putting things into perspective regarding my post 2 nights ago when we got blasted by 27. It’s great to see a ton of folks here who are able to balance out reality/laker fandom etc. it’s great to see examples and people who have been through the same as I and know this very feeling.

Our beloved Lakers absolutely responded today with an absolute shellacking. I cannot wait to watch the lakeshow highlights on YT as I always do after every Laker win. You are all incredible and seemingly don’t get too high/too low on the wins/losses, despite it being the playoffs. Truly appreciate all of your insight Lakersball!!!!

I wanted to respond to your post after last game but some of the others ended up already summing up my thoughts perfectly. But overall yeah, I try to keep an even keel and not let individual losses get me down during a long playoff series

But point of clarification, while I don’t get too low after a loss… I ABSOLUTELY get too high after a big win lol! Definitely gonna have a few drinks and soak up the highlights and every post game interview I can, see what Lakers Nation and Locked on Lakers have to say in their reaction videos, etc

Love it!!! Yeah, it’s extremely hard not to be ecstatic when they go out and do something incredible like this!! 40 pt drubbing of memph in g6, then to win by 30 against the defending champs after a 27 pt loss? In the postseason?? With an overhaul of the team just months in?! This team is something else…

I haven't been as emotionally invested since the Kobe playoff days. Seems easier not to be bothered by anything these days. I'm happy if they win, but meh if they lose.

Not much attachment to the current set of players with a few exceptions. too much roster turnover for my taste - very little continuity.

Hard (for me) to understand that with the arc of this season and what’s going on with THIS team with this current roster playing two damn tough teams and holding our own / kicking their a**** in these Playoffs, with a “shot” at another ring “IF” we can stay healthy. Why keep pining away for 13 years ago?

Yeah. This is a good group of a guys overall IMO.

Even making the conference finals would be unprecedented. Honestly we’re already doing something amazing given how the year started.

Really easy for me to root for this group and I was a very vocal critic of pretty much everything about the team before we started the roster overhaul.

I am greedy. When we are on, we are a title contender.

It's the Game 2s of GSW series that puzzle me.

So, I watched some of those losses to the C Bags back in the day. Saw Jerry West shoot that 60 foot shot to tie the game, ONLY to lose it in overtime. Saw us lose to the C Bags and then finally get to face the vastly undermanned Knicks team ONLY to lose to them too. I have had more than my share of agonizing losses and the Lakers are my ONLY team. There are other teams I like, like the Dodgers and the old Rams. I am a pretty big Bruins BB fan too but they are all second string to me compared to the Lakers.

What I have come to realize is that winning is really hard and there is no shame to not win it all, it is a drag but it is not shameful. I get pissed and agonize at the moment when bad krap is happening but I refuse to carry that negativity over with me. s*** happens and woulda, shoulda and couldas are rampant and ultimately don't matter much. Bottom line for me is that it is ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY. The harder the journey, the sweeter it is when you finally win.

Nothing is guaranteed, injuries are a huge part of all this and the very best team can be right at the precipice ONLY to see their best guy, or two, get injured and fall to a lesser team. That is the way it goes. Be bummed for a day, your family is way more important. Cherish your kids and your wife, there will always be next year. And realize that nothing is owed you. Remember that Jordan was actually 6-9 in his career. People kind of put Jordan on a weird pedestal like he never lost a thing, even though he lost, more than he won.

The Lakers are going to win rings for years and decades to come. Long after I leave this 3rd rock from the sun. Don't sweat the details, enjoy the journey, you only get to ride this train once in your life.

GS is one hell of a team: Jesus they just come at you with all these guys who are pass, cut , shoot, and are well coached. That on top of Steph.

Honestly felt they came in with a great game plan, we're executive well. A great coach who put Poole to pasture and got the most out of guys like Moody and GP2 and the Lakers still won

I can't believe some people think Nash was the equivalent of Steph. Curry is an a whole f***ing level

20/20 at the FT line, that's how you win close games :)
As for Nash, he was a GREAT player. Don't let his stint with us (or more than deserved) MVP trophies, cloud your judgement ;)

Wow, I didn’t even notice we went 20-20, I was so nervous and wrapped up in the game. That’s crazy, they won us the game, we miss just a few or a handful and it’s a different outcome.

Thanks Wino. Very much appreciate this. Perfect timing too bc tonight’s game got me absolutely on edge and i just cannot contain myself. Reading posts like this really put things into perspective and makes me still. I thank you kindly for the time in that post.

Don’t mean to detail this optimism thread, but can you clarify the jordan 6-9 comment? If it’s the finals, he’s 6-0 i thought in finals series? Which 9 losses are the one you speak of? LOL

He’s talking about the 9 years of his career he didn’t win a title. Winning is that hard, even the great MJ lost before he got to the Finals 9 times. And that’s not a failure, it’s just that hard to win. That we are right now 1 game away from the WCF after the season and a half we had with Russ, after all the AD and LeBron injuries we’ve seen, it’s nothing short of a miracle. We should not be here, no team that was totally changed a month or so before the playoffs should be doing this. People here were screaming for Rob to just give LeBron and AD a roster of competent NBA role players, to just give them a punchers chance at this and see what happens. Well, he did, and look what’s happened. Even if we lose along the way here this is not a failure, this is a massive success after this team climbed out of the depths.

Oh horse****. I watched plenty of Phoenix and people constantly forget how good Amare the dude who was ROY of the year without Nash didn't exist. Amare has become an afterthought

Steph is just on another level

Thanks Weezy. Our team has defied the odds and seemingly continue to do so!! Just incredible stuff. Crazy how Rob was like 13th or something I saw for exec of the year? Wouldn’t midseason trades count too not just off-season rosters and summer blockbusters…
