It’s basketball after all isn’t it? If this is the worst thing that affects your week then you’ve had a blessed life. There are many people who experience difficulties that grant them perspective; not being able to feed your family or keep a roof over your head or living in a destabilised country where tomorrow isn’t promised. When you go through things like that you remember it’s just a game with no real stakes apart from entertaining us.

As for how to deal with it, I’ve always enjoyed stoicism. Differentiating the difference between effort vs results - you can’t control the latter but you can the former. Taking it a step further, we can have no impact on either the effort or the results because we’re not playing, so you have no say in whether the team wins or loses and it’s all down to luck usually anyway.

Also remembering that what we perceive as no effort is usually a mistake on our part. We can’t discount the health of our players or our game plan or the effort and motivation of the other team - no defending champion is going to roll over.

Looking at base rates helps as well, 85%+ of the time the home team wins game 2 if they lose game 1. And lastly, just don’t get too high or too low, a big win doesn’t indicate we are going to win the series out just as a loss doesn’t indicate we are going to lose. Play the series not the individual ball game.

Just remember, it’s a game and doesn’t actually mean anything to our real lives.

This should also help put things in perspective. We should be nowhere near the 2nd round of the playoffs tied 1-1 going home vs the defending champs after our start and not changing the team until the deadline. The further we go the more it should wow people.

Would be soooo sweet especially if it was against Boston. Even with health the odds are against it of course but puncher’s chance. Then we ‘d have to deal with this:

Game 2 was a must win game for the Dubs, they responded and smashed us. Game 3 is a must win game for us, let's see what we are made of.

I still follow the team but I don't get into it as much. 24's passing really put a huge damper on it for me. Easier said than done but you can't take losses hard. They move on from it and people should too. It happens. In time, you'll learn. At least I hope so.

The reason I'm on LB is to read the interactions or to help out in making the site civil. Plus I find most of the members likeable.

Both home games are MUST wins. If we do, then Game 5 at their joint will be a throwaway.

We will take it seriously but please keep in mind that winning the championship would be extremely unlikely. I don’t want everyone here to be super disappointed if we don’t. Beat the Warriors and it’s a great success already.

Season has been a success already IMO. Found pieces that fit well and should be able to resign. Losing to the defending champs who were favored with little time to get everyone integerated is no shame

They have two big holes a 3 and D wing and a backup big which should be correctable. One more shooter as well. Have assets left to move of they want to go all in.

Nope. We simply don't have much of a window left. Imagine Bron next year?

We'll have no idea how they did this,: GS was playing well and the offense looked like a f***ing mess for most of the first.half.

I did like the AD/Lebron and the much hated 3 guard lineup. Lakers with DS and Reaves were able to switch everything on defense and DLo provided the shooting

Got to rest Bron and AD again.

Made more 3s than GS. I REPEAT, we made more 3s than GS.

Held them to 39% from the field.

    Ham out coached Kerr.

Right. Looked like the Warriors were about to run us off the court but we rallied.
