I didn't ask what Phoenix has that we don't. I asked what they had that Portland doesn't. Going from POR to PHX is lateral IMO
Interesting option to consider is Draymond Green. An unattractively high offer could score him actually. Theoretically, if you have Green and think that Julius Randle is a similar player, he suddenly could be available in a trade for someone like Cousins. Some might also feel like D'Angelo and Clarkson won't necessarily work together, so do you consider letting go of one in such a trade? Something to think about....
On different note, since we like signing all these lottery bust type players for 1 year deal, how about giving Derrick williams a look?
I mean I'm getting into hypotheticals but I think POR could have had Lopez and Aldridge. If he's seriously considering PHX it's got to go beyond their roster on paper. I'm thinking he likes their philosophy, what Hornacek is running, etc.
I don't think Green is a similar player to Randle. Green is a defensive F with solid offense. Randle is an offensive F with an unproven track record on D. I'd be okay with adding Green, but not to dump Randle.
Wasn't excited to hear that AEG and Time warner people were in the free agent meeting with LA. I feel like the front office has totally lost touch with what top players are looking for. The old Los angeles can get you tons of media/ sponserships is done with. Also everyone is going to have money to spend on free agents. What the lakers need to bring into meetings is a solid plan for the future, how we plan on using that free agent. We are looking like the old timers hanging on to the past who can't relate to the newer players.
Phoenix could put a lineup of Bledsoe, Knight, Tucker, Aldridge, Chandler with the Morrii and Len off the bench, although they would have to lose a few players to free up cap space. Still, that's a potentially solid team, certainly better than what the Lakers could offer. Nowhere near as good as the Spurs insane Parker, Green, Kawhi, Timmy, Aldridge, Manu lineup.
Reading about how the lakers suck at recruiting bothers me a lot. It seems like the lakers are out of touch with reality. It reminds me of like how some guys try to impress girls with their wealth and show off how successful they were and the girl is being nice and nodding their heads when in reality they can't wait for the date to end. The guy goes home feeling good about himself and how the date went but when he calls, the girl just ignores the guy. Anyways, let the youth movement begin!
Right - again not questioning the Lakers bid in this. That PHX team is at best equal to the POR squad from this past season...trying to figure out why "PHX is in serious contention" when you have teams like Houston and SA.
Yeah, I wouldn't. Today sucks; no doubt. Nevertheless, we must stay the course with our young guys. I'm just restraining myself as best as I could waiting for the final results of free agency to see what we look like...
