Backing off...and thinking. The Laker name still has allure. The problem is that it potential 1st tier free agents are using it for leverage just to build momentum for their own advantage. Part and parcel of business. Yes, I agree that we build through the draft even if it takes a couple of seasons to bear fruit. What I don't like is trying to snag "mercenaries" [credit Savory Griddles] instead of solid, character players who want to play and contribute. Case in point: Golden State. Bogut, Iguadala, Livingston, Lee.
Clips just got infinitely more annoying. Why are we even talking to DJ? This is getting comical in a bad way. Lock up the good players that are still left.
Are we? We play in the competitive west. East is always wide open for any team that isn't tanking. If Phil gets Monroe, AA, and West like he's trying (along with Melo and Porz), that team will be much better in their conference than we'll be in ours.
Seriously we've got to leave with either Harris or Monroe. Mitch needs to stop f***ing around with these other guys. They're using us, we're embarrassing ourselves.
I think we're still more attractive to him, but not by much and only at the max. I'd offer it right now before things get out of hand.
We've basically struck out again, according to all the reports today. I really hope we can steal KD away from OKC next year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah, but who else is left? Filling out the capspace with Biyombo and McDaniels isn't going to net us many more wins or suddenly make us 1 player away from contention.
We have to come away with someone, we can't keep going year to year saying "Yeah, we'll save our cap for next year."
I was ticked off when I saw that we were meeting with Love this week, when he has clearly said he's returning to the Cavs...and now he decides to publish some one page article on him returning....why the EFF are we wasting our time with guys that we KNOW aren't going to sign with us? DJ can take a hike..don't even take a meeting with him if he's just going to mess with us and then go sign with Dallas or return to that OTHER LA team... On top of that....all the 2nd tier guys are getting scooped up in a hurry..I cannot believe this is happening right now. We could end up with NOBODY....forget tier 1...we won't even get the role players...we need to go all in on TOBIAS HARRIS and get a rim protecting big like Koufos or Asik and call it a frickin' day!!!
What does that have to do with what i said? I said that these guys seem to have no alpha mentality where they could lead a team to a championship they just wanna go into a team thats ready and win. While theres nothing wrong with wanting to win, theres no sense of hard work and feeling satisfied that you were able to do it and you weren't just put in the right situation For example I'd rather go thru the process of going to the grocery store picking up some things and go home & cook a great meal than buying a pizza. I dont see how my post had anything to do with yours. Warriors won the championship and they arent no super team they built thru the draft and signed some complementary pieces that fit their team. Nothing was handed to them.
Melo isn't retiring next year and our youth is superior to theirs if Monroe's competitive spirit leads him to an easier path in the east, then im not sure i'd want to give a max contract to a player with that kind of mentality anyway
The Laker name is being dragged through a river of s*** and piss all I the span of less than a day. That river doesn't look to be ending anytime soon either.
Robin Lopez Omer Asik Greg Monroe Tobias Harris Iman Shumpert Rajon Rondo Mo Williams Lou Williams Dwayne Wade JR Smith Wesley Matthews Corey Brewer Gerald Green Josh Smith David West Ed Davis Bismack Biyombo Kosta Koufos None of them are sexy, but most of them, put us in the right direction and involve a plan without spending a s*** load of money to preserve this precious cap space we've been hoarding for 2 years now.
