Is anybody, ANYBODY in contact with KJ McDaniel's people? He seems like a nice long-term piece in a position of need.
Even worse we don't get our pick next year unless it's top 3. More one year deals is a colossal failure
I'm with Real. Ed Davis on a 3 year deal. KJ McDaniels on maybe a 2-3 year deal. Get Russell and Randle some teammates, not mercenaries.
Most of our big moves in the past have come from trades, not FA... We still have Cap room & tradable assets...
I vehemently disagree with not spending the cap space this year. Kobe 25 million off the books and the cap increase will give us two max deals. We need to fill this roster out to be one player away, not 7. We need more wins, a new direction and got damn plan going forward. Wait til next year is the effing Cleveland motto. Reload this roster with some talent or step down and let somebody else do it. Stars come to teams ready to take the next step as we have clearly seen the last 3 years.
Obviously everyone is frustrated but it really isn't fair or beneficial to rail on the front office for missing out on free agents that for the most part had decided ahead of time where they wanted to go. Most people here have been talking about building through the draft patiently. That is what we are doing. We have made amazing picks and will likely find a couple pretty good vets to help lead the way. Even if we don't it just gives more minutes to our young soon to be stars. All this venting may feel good but it just gives other fans ammo for their doom and gloom threads. Remember who we are.
With another rental plan we should start scouting Coach Cal's next big man - SKAL LABISSIERE (doesn't exactly roll of the tongue), projected #1 pick.
looks like monroe is our last hope have a feeling DJ ends up in dallas. i like monroe but damn, never thought i'd see the day where the lakers would have such a tough time attracting big name FA's
Made this post earlier for optimism. Bottom line is that the Lakers can't panic here. Yeah you missed on some big fish, but we were never the favorites for their services anyways. Do your due diligence and be smart and patient. Feel out Deandre, but at the first inkling you feel can't get him just move on quick to the next tier in Tobias, Monroe, Lopez. Miss out on those, then you look to young guys with potential, such aa KJ McDaniels, Thomas Robinson, etc. Either way there's positives this year with our young core growing up and showcasing their abilities and potential
