yeah, i was beating that drum last year when everyone was down on him, but i felt pretty dumb when he languished most of this year, too. but he's back doing what i expected since they moved conley, 15/5/5, and the team has basically won at the same rate during that 16 game stretch. his three is even trending up toward respectability (though bad overall still). situation can matter a lot for players. nice thing about reaves is that he's shown he can play in a lot of different ways.
So I says to myself a few minutes ago .... Self, "I wonder if there are any Austin Reaves crossover compilations out there?" ..... since, seems to me, he is developing one of the best in the league. Ask .... and youtube for the WIN, posted just 14 hours ago. Not sure if a compilation or more of a study, yet, as the giver I am ... rushed here first to post. From first glance it looks like a real good look at WHY his crossover is so good.
Austin may not be as quick twitch athletic as most in the league but he plays with a greater repertoire of high level skills both sides of the ball than most, is decent athletically AND he plays Bigger than his 6’6” height.
thing that surprises me most is that he's figured out how to get those crazy shots in the paint off in the pros. i remember watching film right after we drafted him and being like...those are some pretty great, tough shots, but he'll never get them off in the nba. and he takes and makes exactly those shots. it's wild.
The stronger he gets the better he gets at those too. It’s a legitimate art he’s mastering, looking to score and drawing the foul …. unlike Hardin’s BS with looking for the foul in cheating ways he did so much of the time.
Kid is so good man, what a find. He just plays with zero fear of the moment, so composed, has good vision, and finally at some point decided to stop being afraid to try to get his own shot. I don’t know that the free throw stuff will continue as players adjust, but hey good on him for working on trying to get some calls.
glad i picked up his high end cards before this current surge...all his #d cards have 4x-5x as of the 35pt gm
Man...this kid is something else. He honestly might have saved our season a couple of nights ago - and now he's starting and he absolutely lived up to the hype. Idk if he's gonna keep this up - but IF he does...this team is very very dangerous.
Dominant. Before tonight he's averaging 7.7 FTAs per game this month, that's 11th in the entire NBA. Feed the beast!
Lebronze who? 25 points on 10 shots. Super efficient, and glad to see him get the starting nod. but, 39 minutes? If Hambone becomes too reliant on him, he may run him into the ground like he does with others.
Recommendation: study Butler instead of Harden and Trae. Jimmy gets to the line a lot and does it in a more similar way. You know, actually making basketball plays and not trying to flop and cheat the game like the Beard.
