The Scotto/Buha piece I posted last week, they added some additional material after I posted. About Rui, Beasley and Mo.

He wants money and security, expectation is we'll offer him around $10m a year.

Every time he pump fakes from the 3PT line, dribbles to midrange equals money:Noddingyes: still limited playing time though.

i'm starting to think the regular MLE is an overpay. if it's a short-term deal (2 years), i could live with it.

i'd offer 2/20 (no options) or 3/25 with a PO on year 3. he's really a 20mpg player at max, imo. you can't pay a ton for that, particularly if we're going to have to pay big to keep reaves.

Yasuke can hoop, we should try to keep him. I don't think he's going to get any outrageous offers this summer.

his restricted free agency is much more interesting than reaves's, imo. he's in a situation where his QO might actually be above his market value, but we have to extend it to make him RFA. will we do that?

It depends on how he plays to close out this campaign. I think Rui will be a surprise for us. If he makes it a tough decision then he played well.

yeah, at that point, the long 2 is basically as good as a three point shot from a good shooter in terms of expected value.

He's had a pretty nice couple of games in the Mavs and Magic outings. Not big numbers, but important baskets and playing smart ball. I've liked how he's used his size. In the Magic one, he put up a quick impactful 6 points at the 3rd-4th Q turn.

I feel like his production doesn't match his talent for some reason, probably a confidence issue or he's afraid of making mistakes.

he needs a good coach to take the next step, even though I doubt Ham is going to be that for him.

someone else said it already, but i think handy is the guy he needs. rui's limited in certain ways (slow laterally, not explosive, not super high hoop iq) but he's big and has good eye-hand coordination. stuff can happen here.

It’s Handy definitely, and I don’t think he was just blowing smoke when in the first week he said excitedly that “Rui reminded him of someone he worked with in Toronto” meaning Leonard. He’s young, he’s hungry and like ALL these young guys he has I think a higher level of skills capabilities he can easily get to ….working with Handy and with Austin Reaves.

I've been high on Rui since the signing. I still think he was a great find and I was pleasantly surprised when Rob got him. Stealth move. I don't think anyone is going give him big money, I believe we're safe there. He needs some work for sure but the raw ingredients are there. Mostly he's unafraid and I love that. He keeps a cool head and he can flat out score especially pulling up for that mid range shot.

Reaves starting might have fried Ham’s brain. Rui never got going.

It's not going to be his night every night. He's a role player, that what role players do.
