Ginobil is what you would get if you took the best aspects of Caruso (athleticism and defense, smart) with Reaves (herky jerky, killer dribble, smart)
Im not sure I agree that he isn't as fast as Manu. I think many people underestimated Manu's speed and ball control and add to that he was a prime player but didn't get double-teamed like one he had a lot of ability to attack. Duncan and Parker really opened it up for him. Reeves doesn't have that freedom to operate like Manu did with the Spurs. I also think he (reeves) lacks the true green light to just "go for it" like Manu had. But, back to your point, I find his ability to transition, get from one spot to another with and without the ball and change of direction to be just as quick as manu with reeves being, imo, much more explosive.
Every time he comes into the game, our situation improves, his energy and smart plays almost always lift us. I keep reading where other teams just think some krappy bench player on the Lakers is having a ton of luck against them. They underestimate him and that is great for us.
Yep! I still stand by that, he is an good secondary playmaker, turning into a great shooter, and he is a very good defender when you take his athletic limitations into consideration. Joe also use to trash talk so much, Austin doesn’t trash talk but I’ve seen some real edge to him since he’s come back. We should lock Reaves up for a long time, he is the answer at SG whether he starts or plays off the bench. I’m also wondering where Max Christie is in a year or two. I’m getting Mikal Bridges vibes from him in how he moves.
...can absorb contact with enough presence to put up a shot and make it. Did it twice last night. Always looks to pass first.
He needs to be starting. We need to start strong. Dlo and AR are a guard combo that will give teams sleepless nights and nightmares. When healthy, AD, Van, Lebron, Dlo and Austin are as good a starting five as there is. That is a championship unit. Can score, rebound and play D. Beasley and Dennis off the bench would be killer.
i think when lebron's available, beasley suddenly has a very easy job with the starters, and reaves actually need to be playing when lebron's not in. i like him off the bench for big minutes and as a regular closer.
There is an MJ switching hands layup in there... This one is 2 months old, but should hold you over ...
love the fantasizing. no way we're letting him go after the caruso fiasco, imo. i'm much more worried about us cheaping out and declining the options on beasley and bamba than i am losing reaves in restricted FA with arenas rights. not happening, sorry media.
I thought we were done being cheap until this whole 10 day thing. Playoff revenue would help, but we have to get there and stay there year in and year out. on AR, here's another read on his potential upcoming contract from a cap expert
how many pages ago did i tell everyone to be ready for the 4/80 article? at least the author shows some restraint at the end and basically admits that it's pretty far-fetched that someone offers something we won't match. i just think it's funny to claim his RFA status puts us in a tough spot. it does not. it puts us at a huge advantage. and if someone gets cute with balloon payment, that bill won't come due until lebron is likely to be retired and our books pretty clean. so who cares. we're keeping reaves. i think the rui contract will be the hardest to figure, and i we're losing at least one of brown and schroder if not both. but not reaves.
My friend - we all thought we were keeping Caruso too....I would not be surprised if somehow we fumbled the bag with Reaves too. That being said...I think Reaves is a better all around player than Caruso and the Lakers will value him more.
