I agree we should do everything to keep this group of guys together next season. They seem to be a great fit. Even guys who are underproducing like Beasley I have faith in.

It may not be possible though. Would Schroder take the MLE? Can we resign Troy Brown Jr somehow?

The only two expendable players I see are Mo Bamba and Lonnie, since Centers and bench scorers usually can be found for the vet minimum.

we haven't always had great luck with vet min centers, so bamba is a keeper, imo.

Idk why Bamba getting so much hate - he was good for us and yeah he might be slow on D, but he can still block shots and stretch the floor on offense.

I'd honestly like to keep everyone but knowing our owner is going to try to cut down on luxury tax, that's who I'd be willing to give up:

    Lonnie
    Bamba
maybe Troy Brown Jr. if he can't be signed for the minimum again, although I feel and I think the general opinion on him is that he has great upside at only 23 years of age.

Beasley is underproducing and next season is a team option, so I worry they'll let him go just because of his slow start. We've really been crying out for volume shooters so it would be a major mistake to let him go.

Schroder I think would be super important to lead the 2nd unit next season and finish the odd game, and Ham seems to love him, but he might have overperformed the MLE which is all we can offer him.

I like Bamba but I am ambivalent. I like Wenyen too, could see us trading out Bamba but think he could also be good on this team. Whatever works out for the team.

Troy for sure will make way more the minimum because he deserves it based on his play. I would spend the MLE on him. Wings are a hot commodity and very hard to come by at a reasonable price, let alone a large one.
With our limited resources, I think we will be choosing between The Hedgehog and Troy. Both have outplayed their minimum status.

That makes us favourites next year. It probably takes a first and a second.

...and willingness to trade turner in the first place?

i don't see why indy would use their cap space to help lock up turner for a lower amount, commit to him as their center, and then...sell him for bench players and a 1st?

Well I have selfish reasons, and I think they should free Myles Turner! The Pacers aren't going to do any damage in the East with that roster for the foreseeable future. They will have the 3rd most available cap space in the League this summer though. Indy isn't a hotbed for free agents or something, and sign and trades would allow them, to pick up some young talent and draft picks. Hield is on an expiring contract next season too. They could get a FRP from us for Turner, and 1 maybe from somebody for Buddy. 3 FRP and some young talent, is a lot to build around Haliburton with moving forward IMO. FREE MYLES TURNER!!!

    lol cute. so turner's worth expirings, a 1st and a 2nd, but hield's worth a first, too?

feel like everyone was asleep when the story that indy's owner isn't interested in tanking came out. he's not interested. carlisle's definitely not interested. they have halliburton, turner, and mathurin. they could really use a bulldog sf. with the cash they'll have, i'm guessing something like dillon brooks or harrison barnes (great fit) isn't out of the realm of possibility in FA if they're willing to pay.

they can also use duarte and their space to get a higher priced veteran to play sf or pf.

i just don't see why they move turner unless they're getting a star back, and i'm guessing that's how they see it now, too. it was different when he was a threat to walk--and even then his price was substantially higher than people are suggesting here.

I wouldn't give up a FRP for Buddy Hield, but someone else might. The Pacers aren't going to make the play in game in the East this season. Whether they don't want to tank or not, they still aren't that good of a team.Turner will only be making 20 million dollars for the next two seasons, they aren't getting any star back, for that kind of money. They may be able to draft a potential future star, if they had multiple FRP though. They need more talent overall and Turner and Hield, are their best options to acquire them, because they aren't going to do any damage in the East with them anyway IMO.

i just think it's really easy to tell others that their 2nd best player is worth expirings a 1st and a 2nd, and it's much harder to be convinced that your 2nd best player is worth that.

the pacers' prospects looked much dimmer last summer than they do now. why would they change course so dramatically?

almost nobody tanks before the season even starts. it's why we had to hold onto russ until february. i'm guessing even houston and orlando are fully convinced they're making the playoffs next year.

turner is NOT going to be traded for a single first round pick and expiring salary this summer. not happening. love to revisit in august. but for now, offseason plans involving this are unserious.

We'll see my man, but I'm not giving up on getting Myles Turner yet. I'm a bit curious as to why you automatically assume, that trading Turner is tanking for Indiana. Lonnie and Mo could play well there, and two FRP is bringing in even more talent. He's having the best season of his career, and the Pacers still won't even make the play in game this season.
