LABron James Discussion: The Final Year?

3 weeks..ouch,ouch, and another week to ramp up. This is AD's moment to step up and carry the team.

 

3 weeks basicly out for the remaining of the season

 

Ummm .... am guessing/hoping obviously we are not talking about THAT tendon?

 

As history shows, it's nearly impossible to win an NBA championship without at least one top 5 - 10 player. We will not get one for either of our two stars, which in my book makes it pointless to trade them.

As incredibly frustrating as the constant injuries to both AD and LBJ have been, I rather stick with them and hope they are finally healthy for once for the post season. The alternative is yet another rebuild and I'm not eager to go through that misery again.

Some teams are able to get stars only through the draft. The Lakers have proven time and time again to be able to attract some of the best in their prime. Treating the ones we have on the team is part of that, one that many here seem to not appreciate enough.

 

Well Jones..we have 20 games left, let's say AD is good to go for the rest of them. How are you feeling about our chances?

 

3 weeks is 10 games. So here's the road ahead before the reevaluation

That makes sense. Of course at 38 Lebron is held to a different standard. He was an iron man in his prime.

I do however think it's smart to load manage AD. I just thought we picked the wrong game to sit him out. Luckily the role players showed out and got a win yesterday. Both Lebron and AD's body should be managed going forward to avoid the big injuries. We now have the depth to withstand them missing games here and there.

Obviously Lebron's and AD's injuries this year stem from over usage due to a poor roster. All those 40 plus minute overtime games from not being able to put teams away in crunch time added up.

 

A team that starts to gel and then adds a healthy refreshed Lebron for the playoffs could be dangerous.

IF HE’S WILLING to fit in when he gets back. One of my few knocks on him is I don’t think he has done that well in the past when coming back from injury.

 

The Lakers injury reporting just blows: like what tendon is injured?
I get not knowing what treatment to decide but come on at least do the fans a service and provide more information.

 

so if AD had a tendon injury that didn't require surgery and was going to miss 10 games, he should be called soft, but if lebron doesn't, he shouldn't...because he's old?

no idea how one has to do with the other. when you're older, you can sit out for the same severity of an injury? injury severity should determine availability. i don't get this line of thinking at all.

this is what i was just saying in the AD thread. totally agree.

good lord the "kids" years sucked my will to live. just bad basketball left and right while trying to squint and see ingram and randle leading a team to contention or some nonsense.

i think we go 4-6 without lebron here, at best. we'd have to nearly win out here:



that's definitely not a murderer's row, but the margin of error is just so thin. you go 7-2 in the last group there, and you're at 40-42 on the year.

interestingly, that's exactly where BPI would predict us finishing, which would land us at 10th and in the play-in.

 

LeBron being out definitely sucks, and at this point, I'm expecting him to be out for the rest of the season.

But this is going to also give an opportunity to the other guys that play at that same position (Vando, Rui) to really step up in LeBron's absence. We don't have one guy that can replace LeBron obviously...but we do have multiple guys that can all play and are solid rotation level NBA players. They'll be able to find a rhythm too while LeBron is out.

Let's see what this group can do...I just hope D-Lo can get back because he's key to us actually making a run without LeBron (he can initiate offense)

 

yeah, he's done for the regular season. only way we see him again this season is if they somehow make the play-in

 

If you could guarantee me a healthy AD for the rest of the season, I'd be confident we could make the play-in.

lol, ok i guess. i mean, if two guys sprain an ankle and sit out three games, i don't make different judgments about their toughness. i just don't like the double standards. you can play or you can't. you're hurt or you're not. lebron not getting hurt when he played for the cavs means nothing to me. we pay him double that amount!

to be clear: i'm not the one calling people soft and saying they should be traded. in either case.
