Honestly, I would just let it go. Let's just move on and see what this new team can do (which is much more than the old one, obviously, but it's going to be fun watching this photo-finish at the end of the regular season).

yes, it should be fun... and i think this was the first step in preparing the team for the post-Lebron era... it's very refreshing and exciting for these new/young guys to be around Lebron and learn from him as his career comes to an end... and if the clippers fall down the standings, that will be the cherry on top.

That'd be a good hire assuming Trae can get along with him. Thought we were done with the coach getting a front office title though. It hasn't worked well in other places (Minny and DET)

Yeah. I don't there would be as much talk if he gone to the Heat or Bulls honestly.

I don't hate on Russ. He was a terrible fit, but he is who he is, and he has many redeeming qualities. I put 100% of the blame on our front office. It was a horrendous trade that set us back considerably, and put us in a pretty deep hole. We are only beginning to climb our way out.

Pretty much how I feel about it. I am glad he is gone but thought he had some good moments for us, just thought he had some really bad ones too. Overall, he did not come close to turning us into a winning team. I am much happier for the team to add depth.

Bottom line for me is that Russ took up, what was it? 47 million in salary?? At 47 million if you do not add an obvious positive, winning edge, to your team, you are a waste of money. At 10 million and a bench role, I am not complaining but we put all our marbles into him and he did not live up to the expectations. It was a huge mistake.

But the truth is, the Clippers don't have to pay that money, they can give it a shot with him and if it doesn't pan out, he is not costing them much at all. How does his contract with them work? Is Utah the team on the hook for all his salary? Is he just a free signing for the Clippers? I would guess there is some kind of league minimum that the Clippers will be required to pay???

If we were in their position, we might do the same. At 47 million he was killing us.

100% …. Wow. Well same circumstances “basketball wise”, except for 47M tied up, the vaunted Clippers owner and Pres of Basket Ops and the great Jerry West as paid consultant bent on Lakers revenge …. due to their “superstars” who CONVERSELY haven’t won JACK yet lobbying hard for Russ of old who will do whatever to fit in …. have brought him in to take minutes from players that have them where they are in the tight West. Our 2 superstars had just delivered a ring a little over a year earlier. And with that kind of juice plus Klutch (also involved heavily in attaining that ring) giving its seal of wanting it to happen as well. 100%. WOW.

This is how I see it. He didn’t work out. He’d feel terrible about it, his boyhood team, chance to compete for rings and for various reasons it didn’t work out.

But our FO shouldn’t have made that trade and our stars were injured the whole time - so everyone shares the blame.

Yeah well I'd take the 3 guys that we got for Russ, over Kuz, KCP and Trez all day. Kcp and Kuz have somehow become grossly overrated around here since they left. Not by me. They were both terrible against Phoenix, and just average for the most part, during thier entire tenures as Lakers. Whoopee damn do.

" Oh!!!The Westbrook trade set us back for years!!" FOH with that BS.
Nothing was going to trump AD and Lebron not playing together period. Blame it all on Westbrook anyway then..cool. This collection of youngsters we have now, are better than the bunch we had after the bubble, so thank you Russell Westbrook, for being the tool that helped make it happen. May you burn in hell though for joining the Clippers!!

But I digress....We have a game tonight! Let's go get a win, and then let's go stack up some more. There shouldn't be any excuses..we are healthy, balanced, talented, and should be hungry. Lebron and AD need to go out and be the superstars and make it happen. If they don't, we need to discuss trading one of thier a**** this summer too.

    Two things:

    1) We included a FRP and two SRPs in the first Westbrook trade. We also traded another FRP to get rid of him. Personally, I'd rather have two FRPs, two SRPs, Kuz, KCP, and Trez (all tradeable) over Westbrook. There are all sorts of moves we could have made by flipping those assets that would have left us better off than what we had last season.

    2) In the same breath, we let Caruso go for nothing so we'd have room to sign THT. So, as far as I'm concerned--and unless proven otherwise--our FO had no idea what they were doing putting that roster together. They don't get the benefit of the doubt.

Caruso was a bad decision. I agree with that.

    1. We gave up a FRP to get off of Kuz, KCP and Trez. I don't have any problems with that. Nobody wanted them, and it's unclear if we ended up with better, than we have now, if we kept them.
    2. Trading a FRP and Green for Dennis tho? I didn't care for that idea.
    3. Trading Russ and a FRP that netted D'Angelo, Jarred and Malik..all young guys.I don't have any problem with that one either.

It still gets understated, that we were in a bad spot that summer. We were already over the cap, we still needed to resign Caruso or Tucker, and Dennis was unsigned. They tried to shop KCP, Kuz and Trez all season. Almost made a trade for Lowry, but balked at including Tucker. It's not like we had all these great options on the table, and Lebron/Rob wanted to move on from those guys. It all ended up ok to me. Yet I didn't like the original Green for Schroder deal in the previous summer, and I still say that Rob gave up too many picks for AD. Our FO isn't perfect, but we rebounded well IMO. No AD/Lebron..no winning anyway, regardless of what other moves we might have made instead of Russ IMO.

Kuz couldn’t work with AD and Lebron since his best position was PF. Trez wasn’t coming back. KCP to me was a great role player as a 3&D. Letting Caruso go was a mistake but it was between THT and Caruso and had nothing to do with the Russ trade.

So the question is, would you trade Kuz and KCP plus two firsts for Dlo, Beasley and Vanderbilt? Beasley and KCP are more or less similar level of players to me. So Kuz plus two firsts for Dlo and Vanderbilt? I think it’s a decent trade, maybe a slight overpay but nothing terrible.

KCP is a much better defender than Beasley. The ideal scenario (not saying in anyway realistic) would be to have KCP and flip Kuzma for Dr Lo and Vanderbilt. Lakers are the title favorite if they flip KCP for Beasley. Vanderbilt and KCP with AD behind them would be a dream scenario.
